I see some of you have clear Fatcats. Through my reading of posts it seems as though you guys are just clearing the whiskey frames. If this is true what do you use to get them clear? thanx

That was pretty easy. Used a little rubbing alcohol mixed in the water. They look super sweet clear. The bronze lenses look cool as hell with the gold stretch logo. Thanks for the info. Think I have to go buy Monster Dogs to do this with now.

Rubbing Alcohol, eh? I've been soaking mine for 5 days now and little comes off at the end of each day. Was wondering about a solvent or such to try.

I thought the clearing reagent was acetone or nail polish remover.

I didnt use anything for most of the clearing process and for the little odds and ends, heat seemed to work the best. Just use a hair dryer to heat the frame up a bit and start scraping with your finger nail.

I think I've taken it as far as my finger nail and heat can go. Now I'm getting to what Eric refered to as the paint that's dyed the plastic. I'll try the SGH frame heater and perhaps a bit of acetone in a very inconspicuous area frist.

Yeah that what I used. I did it when I worked there. Also, everytime I thought I made a little progress, Id spray the frame with lens cleaner. It may have helped a little.

Inconspicuous, like a different pair of glasses in the store?

Well, the lens cleaner is already like 70/30 or even 50/50 water and alcohol.

Well, I used a toothbrush the 2 times I did it, it does a great job.

As did I. It's just not getting the paint where it thins out to clear.

And the winner is...

Acetone!

After a few hot water treatments to strip the thicker layers of paint and when you get to the paint the thins out to near clear is when to start this. Use cotton q-tips and nail polish remover. Swipe the frame with the acetone going back and forth over the still painted ares a few times and rinse. Then repeat on other sections. Keep rinsing often though as I don't know what acetone may do to the o-matter, but mine looks perfect. You'll even see the q-tip turing brown as it takes the paint off then you know to get s new q-tip.

Alcohol, didn't do anything on it for me.

Thanks. A little gen 1 lens shake, but what can you do. The lens didn't shake in the Polished Black frame, nor did the bronze in the Whiskey. I am guessing now though that I need another Whiskey yet to have a Clear/Bronze combo. And here I thought I was done.

It's never done. Am I done with splices, no...I still have 2 I need to custom, and that's only the ones I thought about.

Would this also work with a Gascan or something like it? Does it work with every O Matter?

Only fade frames: Whiskey, Brown Fade and Black Fade. The others are solid or solid underneath.

They do look great. I'd really like to do this to a pair. I'm been wanting a clear pair ever since I saw the clear Frogskins way back when. For some reason I never got a pair.

So I just might be joining the "clear club" soon!
