It feels like being an apostel of the O - religion ;
SPREAD THE WORD / EYEWEAR / FOOTWEAR / APPARAL / ACCESSORIES
Heey Fred, You allready infected me with the O-religion,
I go to church almost 2 times a week. American Image is my church, this is where I belong. GOD IS AN O-reviewer.
Dann, that's a good one hahaha...they'll pull out a new model and ask ''does anybody know what this is?''...and I'll be like ''t's called the *******, SKU ******, comes in **/**, **/**, **/** and **/** colour combinations, it's more aimed at the **** market and the price should range between $*** and $***................NEXT!''
So happy guys you have no idea. Still don't think I've quite realised it yet...should probably happen once I start the training I imagine...
On a side note, you guys should see the Canadian Headquarters, it's pretty neat. It looks bad on the outside, but inside it's like a mini-replica of HQ, with 4 Jet seat in the lobby, the huge counter where you can barely see the tip of the secretary's head behind it...pretty cool. I'll try to take pics some time.
Thanks again so much for all your support and encouragement, this feels really cool !
Freesh, let me let you in on a couple NO-NO's to do while in the Oakley staff company. You are new, a baby, a freshy... DO NOT try to out smart the current employees no matter how much you know. They will fire you on the spot, thats how Oakley works. It has happened to me twice!
ALWAYS try to upsale into Polarized. They are very serious about this. They want every customer in the store to have the biggest check, no matter what. Extra lenses, wallet, anything that will boost a sale a few bucks. NEVER use the company phone as private phone, no matter how many of your co-workers do. Like i said before, you are new and they think you know nothing and are nothing. Its just how the world of O-Stores go.
Thanks for the tips man, btw I was just kidding about that training thing. No way in hell would I get in there all cocky and risk this dream job! I wanna get in there, learn and be really receptive. My knowledge and passion for Oakley will only come out while I'm selling as a very good attribute or asset to have, not something over which I'd consider myself better than anybody in there.
I'll make them realise that OTHER than being a plain good salesman, I actually know so much and love it so much, that it makes me that much better. Like in any selling business, you can only be on top of the game if you truely believe in the product. That's a big reason why I'm in a good position to sell Oakley products. Cuz I believe in them...hahaha yeah that's one thing I said in the interview ;)
Congrats Freesh!! Way to go, I knew you would get it. Jeff is going a little overboard in his statements. It’s not all about the $ as much as getting the customer in what fits there needs and desires, If it’s a pair of non polar. Five 3.0 instead of a polar. Juliet so be it. =) Happy customers are priority number one (not customers that later say, why did I pay so much for this polarized stuff) And as for not using the company phone for personal calls, that’s just common since.
You will have a blast, just don’t forget to let that O-Juice flow! =)
All im saying is that they want you to get the most out of each sale. It is common in any retail environment for the sales person to ask you if you would like to add any socks or keychains, which is Oakleys main focus. They have higher profit margins on those items, so they want to push. Customer service is NUMBER one, no matter what. You want to give you customer a great experience no matter who they are or what they are buying. Be prepared for sales voltures though. Your few O-Store employees will swoop down and take a sale like it wasnt yours to begin with.
Keys to being a great O-Store employee:
Go the extra Mile- Clean, restock, fix, study as much as you can
Know your prices- Oakley prices are crucial. They will give you a couple little piece of paper that you should have on your person at all time. When it is slow, take it out and make sure you know ALL the prices for every combination.
Know your lenses- This is key because you want to give your customer the concept behind each lens if they ask. You want to know the lens transmisson and what light they are good for.
Know your materials- You will be tested on EVERYTHING that Oakley makes. You need to know the types of FMJ material and some history behind some frames.
