well, I just paid a fortune ($600) for a higher serial number Carbon Ichiro and this picture will show you why:

why is this more special than any of you guy's Carbon Ichiros, ask Addicted2O. He is only the other member who has a similar one.

I pretty much kept track of us all who has a Carbon Ichiro and there is quite a dozen of us now who has it.... which makes it COMMON in comparison to what Addicted2O have (and now me)

His serial number is IS 51 00514, mine is IS 51 00513
For clarification, I believe any Carbon Ichiro with a serial above 500 has the EXTREMELY LIMITED PRINT :RARE STRAIGHT FONT ETCHING (also seen in the Slate and Emerald Slate lens)

so the question is, did Oakley try to make more after the initial 500? WHY does this batch has a STRAIGHT FONT?

here is a picture of my Carbon Ichiro IS 51 00389 with a SLANTED FONT (like everybody else)

here is the 3 blue/00 blue lens and they all have a different hue

oo blue w/ polished = bluest among all
blue w/ Carbon slanted font= turquoise
blue w/ Carbon straight font= very purplish (like the one on Oakley's website

You can apply this low serial number to your Rubys too, they are not necessarily more RED than the higher serial number.

Nice pairs CAL, but I would never buy 3 times the same exact pair.

Different font for the signature does not make it more special to me, maybe neat at the most, but thats just my opinion.

Dindt those retailed for 300$ ? Just curious.

I only have 2 pairs of Carbon Ichiro, the other one is Polished.

Only a short ONE week it was on the Oakley website, it was priced at around $300 I believe.

I just treat it as limited print so I bought it (kinda like some dollar bills/coins are valued more than the face value)

Yeah, they did make straight font lenses for replacements. I was offered some a while ago, but I didn't want any since I didn't have any Carbon Ichiros to put them into. Should still be rarer than the slanted fonts, though.

It is a beautiful pair. I wouldn't de-value anyone else's carbon ichiro based on slant/straight, personally. Of course, I'm not really in the market for these rarities ... as I fall into the croud of not willing to drop higher than retail prices (heck, I try not to pay retail for most anything).

I don't know how many of the first run OTT are out there (no indentations for the forhead pads, no holes cut in the back tip) ... but I don't think my OTT is so superior to everyone else's. Of course, the OTT is not directly comparable to a carbon ichiro, but the point is the same. Well, sort of ... kinda ... mmmmm ... ok.

Straight font...slanted font...$600 is still a lot of money to me! You guys and your obsession for certain Juliets are way out of my league and I don't think I'm ever going to understand.

I just bought a pair of Juliet Ruby with a serial number of X000179. Does anyone think this is more valuable?

I'm sure it is more valuable to collectors. I know for sure it's worth more than what you paid for it. ;-)

I have 2 sets of the OO Blue (more purple hues) and 2 sets of the Ichiro Blue (more greenish hues) and all of them have the straight number engraving. I was told that is the color names by the Customer Service Rep at HQ. Never paid attention to the font until now.
