Well, like it's been said, I think the ability to get an OR exclusive is a ways off. Nevertheless...

To be honest, I don't think I would want just HJ lenses if the reason for them is that we can't agree on anything else and you just want to get your mitts on an OR lens etching. I might as well go out and buy what I want for myself anyway and do without the etching. I might change my mind if the lenses were for a different frame like MD.

XX and Splice are getting on in years.

Please make colourway suggestions that everyone, or most people, would like, not just a combo you would like.

I think MD, Five 3.0, Gascan and Whisker are the best candidates. Any form of Black with H.I. Blue, Titanium or Gold Iridium lenses is keen IMO.

We need to organize this even more now. We obviously all have our own preferences and this is why Oakley is such a great company...they offer so many choices to make us happy. What we really need to do is get in touch with our contacts, like Factory Pilot and others who actually know people at Oakley. We need to find out what is actually even possible, and if there is any way we could order less than 500. Any extras and whoever orders them can hold on to them and sell them to new members if need-be.

Personally, I think the Fives 3.0 would be the most feasible. Theyre cheap compared to all other frames, and theyve got the potential for o-review engravings on them because they already do that for the polarized.

Most importantly though, we need to start getting in touch with our contacts, and even sending e-mails to info@oakley.com asking if they could direct us to someone who might be able to help us.

Actually , im fine with anything sunglasses or whatever...
but we need 500 sunglasses to get produced , i reckon that we have around 100-150 members ?
Just that i hope it gets going...

If not , the next best option other getting a o-review sunglasses , would be signature lenses without the frame ?
For half jacket model?

Oakley has specified that they have to manufacture a minimum of 500 sunglasses. So , 500 x $70 retail is $35,000.

Anything goes...as long as we got the $$

I think there is as much chance of buying our own lens laser etching equipment, But as we are discussing it.
The juliet is the most popular frame amongst members, as proved in another thread
My vote goes to a juliet VR28 blue irid polarised lens.
Though I'm probably on my own with this...

-same design
-no complaints
-only different sizes
-cheap
-good

Ya kno, some how saying "good job nutcase" just seems to be odd. =)

I am really open to any style what so ever, if it is more feasible on price then I would get two, one to display and one to wear. If it is possible on a more expensive item then I would be only able to get one as would most other members I would think.

As most of us live in democratic nations we can use our knowledge of a democracy and put forth an open vote, members only of course, and see what reigns as supreme choice for our hopeful signature style & colorway.

Now the tally for popular choices includes :

Fives 3.0
Gascan
HalfJacket
Monsterdog
XX (twenty)

Colorway, highly versitle fame color (black, brownish, neutral colors), not a bright color, and a good all around iridium lens (gold, black, grey).

Okay, this is a fun thread to go over ... plenty of energy and excitement. My vote would definitely be to consider MD, GC or HJ. I'd SO much prefer a fully custom frame over just a custom lens (but would never turn away from just a custom lens if that's all we can get) ... which leads me to:

I don't see a 500 minimum really being a major obstacle. There are so many ways I can justify the O-Review being able to purchase a 500 quantity to make a custom. Heck, our top 10 eyewear collections are comprised of 1,066 eyewear!

Primarily, though, I think about how easily I could probably go through 10-20 pairs myself. Think about the Oakley fanatics in your life ... the family and friends you've converted to wearing the O ... the o-store / OPD / SGH staff you know that would be interested in such a rare custom frame/lens. I think we could reasonably easy make the 500 minimum purchase to get a custom and recoup our costs by selling them to people we know and a steady stream on ebay???

So if we could actually make it happen with a 500 order ... I think we can get together and actually order 500.

Thanks to nutcase

But Don't think about Fives 3.0, they are not so special and a little bit ugly. Think Gascan will be good, We have to respect the other nations noses. But don't want HJs. Thin they wouldn't fit on a female face and daily wearing.
So a not dark lens will be fine, but think something special like Ruby clear will be impossible, but very hot.
Think a polished white or Pearl with Emerals Slate or something greenish will be something exclusive, but also impossible.

we should check the possibility of making, that will be part of nutcase or his contact
We should think about the different fits.
We should start a poll about frame and lens colour. The next step will be the signature, think Dann Thomns will be right, because wothout him... .
And if all will be right, also price, we could order.

My tactical suggestion other ways also be right.

once again,

no unusable lenses!!! please people, it's just not a good choice for a community.

also the t-shirt idea is pretty cool, although the shades are what we should focus on now,,,,

How about this. We get some people out there to photoshop some possibilites. Also, we could give them suggestions we have and they could create them. Then, after all of them are done, we could post them all together and then actually see what we might be buying. Then, a vote could easily be done.

if you guys all come together and decide on something and maybe give me 3 options to chose from. I will take it to the powers that be and see what they say.

I am not promising anything other than bringing it up to them.

VR28 Blue Iridium Polar will jack the price up at least $50 to $60.

Whether that matters to anyone or not, I don't know.

Those three frame choices seem like the most universal in terms of style and fit and reasonable in terms of cost, so I definitely agree with them.

For my own sake, I'd recommend staying away from polarized lenses for several reasons:
- Cost, like E C said, a polarized lens will jack up the price by $50
- Most people really don't need or even want polarized lenses, especially since they cost more
- Some people (myself included) cannot wear polarized lenses because they cause eyestrain, headaches, etc.

I would go...

Monsterdog
Half Jacket
Twenty XX

in that order for my preference in frames. And I agree no limited use lenses, Ruby Clear being one of them. I know it's loved on here, but a lens that one could actually wear in all light conditions would be much more user friendly. Thanks FP for the generous offer.

We need to constantly remind ourselves that simplicity is key. I know that the tendency around here is to go above and beyond, and thats what is sweet about this place, but we need to keep it simple so we ALL can afford these and can ALL be happy.

my own opinion on the polarized is that i dont need it, nor do i want it. I dont get eye strain with normal lenses and dont find glare an issue when i wear a proper lens for the situation...

thanks FP. showing it to the big guns is a very big help in achieving this plan.

if this plan will not materialize because of reasons such as everybody wants a different model or colorway, what i'm thinking is to go with only the lens.

Everybody can commit/order through, say Dann, what lens model/color that they want and if all orders (no need to pay for now) are accounted for, then we can get a quote from a laser engraving service how much is it going to be for the o-review logo or whatever design that should be engraved. after finding the cheapest one, we finalize everything, people who commited send the payment for the lens, engraving, and shipping to Dann.

with this, everybody will be happy because they will have an engraved lens color that they wanted for their favorite model. plus people who wants multiple order will not be stuck on one single model/color combo.
