I'm with the guys who love the Romeo 2. I wanted it since I first saw it. While it shares nothing with it's predecessor but the name, the Romeo 2 is a masterpiece of art and science. Like all X-Metals, it combines exotic Oakley styling with the craziest of technologies(Yes, I know it sounds like an advertisement). So, with that, I think that no matter what the Juliet 2 looks like, it's going to be a huge seller. Who knows, the name alone could carry sales for it. Guarantee a lot people here are going to get one just because of the name. I am going to be one.

I find it amusing that a lot of the comments in this thread are about not changing the J2 that much from the original, while in almost every other thread, people want Oakley to go back to more radical designs. Now I'm not necessarily saying it's the same people or that no one is in favor of a completely new design, but it seems to me that slight changes/updates to an existing design isn't all that exciting. I happen to like the R2's. Do I think it's a home run? No, but at least they took a chance and I think that's what got a lot of us started. So I hope they look nothing like the originals, even if it doesn't turn out to be as popular as original.

If they do a radical redesign then they should not call it a Juliet. Come up with another name, let the Juliet die with grace. The new model is designed to replace the Juliet in the Oakley model offering and should not be viewed as a straightforward replacement, like for like, unless it shares styling cues and a recognisable evolutionary lineage to the original Juliet. The Ferrari Testarossa was replaced by the 360 Modena in the model line-up yet no-one would dare call the 360 a Testarossa even though it filled the niche that the Testarossa occupied. Same should be true of the new Juliet if it looks nothing like the original. To call it a Juliet 2 it would have to be comparable to the Testarossa update, the 512TR which looks like a Testarossa though has minor cosmetic changes though mechanically is different.

I actually thought of the very names mercutio or tybalt to replace the juliet. That woudl definitely be a graceful name to call the new x-,etal.

I would like to see the Juliet II be roughly the same as the Juliet, except where the Juliets lenses are angular and slighlty curve to the temple, Juliet II's lenses should be square.

Meh. Or not. I dunno, Juliets will always exist in history, so they can do whatever for Juliet II. I will either like them or not. (I don't like Romeo II, for all of you trivia buffs playing at home.)

Yeah I could see something like the mag in shape for J2.
Who knows, I hope to see pics before its released.

I am pretty sure it will be around the same size as the Juliet, if not it would just confuse buyers I think.

It wouldn't surprise me if we see Ichiro with a pair before its design is officially leaked.

I don't think they need to redesign the Juliet. I like the idea of making a new x-metal, especially the name Mercutio. That's really cool and consistent.

Whatever the second will look like, I'll still have the first, so it's alright with me.

I expect the release of the J2 will result in my demise. I'm sure it will be worth the wait.

Are you saying that when you see it you'll have a heart attack from excitement or something?

No, not from a heart attack. Just from the beating his wife gives him after finding out he'll be working on another X-metal collection in addition to his other X-metals.

Rick, the discontinuation of the Juliet would do quite the opposite to you in my opinion. Just think about how much the value of your collection will go up once the Juliet is discontinued, especially the hardests ones to find like the Brown/VR28 Black and Carbon/OO BLue Ichiro

i could kinda guess this would happen though. oakley always updates and improves their already perfected merchandise. with that in mind, those improvements must be something we've never seen before, and will totally blow my mind.
