I know we have had our own predicictions before but I thought you all might like to know that I was just speaking to a reliable source who has said "the Romeo II served to cement the x-metals back in their top position but he would be very surprised (wink wink) if the semi rimmed design was continued for the J2"

I was actually surprised that its existance wasnt outright denied.

Does anyone else have any other hints or clues, as opposed to personal predictions/desires?

I hope it's stunning but I really, really doubt it. How can you improve upon perfection? I must be the only person here who think that the R2's are god awful compared to the original R1. When you see R2 you don't think of the R1 at all. Not even a styling cue. They might as well be called something else. J2 might tread similar ground I think.

Romeo II is awesome, but I agree that they should have picked another name, since Romeo 1 has nothing to do with it. It's anyone's guess what (and if) Juliet II will be.

James I think quite a few people were and still are unsure of the R2. But I think they are great. I couldn't wait to get a pair and I love them even more now that I have them. I think the Juliets will surprise everyone. I think they realize how popular and awesome that frame is so I'm sure they are trying to do it justice with version 2.0.

Right no semi-rimmed design. Maybe they will be rimless (ooh EC you so crazy)

The only thing I would hazard is that they will have a metal Icon. I think a lot of people have the mentality that if they're paying $500 for a pair of sunnies they want others to know that they are Oakley. Sad but true. Maybe a reverse-Thump design where the speakers blare out to others "I AM WEARING EXPENSIVE SUNGLASSES"

Okay I better stop. It's too early to be posting.

Anyway, Will, that's interesting news; it's the best confirmation of a J2 I've heard on the board, I think the rest was hearsay and rumours. Apologies if I missed someone else's scoop.

I just hope that J2 will be full frame, rimless seem not as cool and agresive... while this is just my opinion.

I really hope that Juliet can continue the spirit of Remeo 1 and Juliet... which are so unique and really tell the world what's metal mean for Oakley.

Good, no semi-rimmed stuff. I thought the R2 was great, but the only thing holding it back, IMO, was its lack of a full rim.

No spring hinge either. I think spring-hinging is the easy way out. The thing I love about Juliets & XX's is that you actually have to change things to make them fit properly but when they do, they're locked onto your head. It's just not the same with Pennys. I'd also like to see a new take on the hammer

On second thought, I would love a half-rimmed designed like the R2 if the only alternative full-rimmed frame was squarish in nature like the Gascan or the Five 3.0.

I would like a little bit more aggressive look like the splice and hopefully they don´t top the romeo 2 price :-)))

Full frame, and not a huge stretch from the original is all I ask. I don't mind if it uses Romeo 2s stems, shox and socks but I would hate to see the R2 with a smaller lens sold as J2.

A smaller R2 would be a tragic waste and would harm Oakley's reputation. The Juliet is a design classic and to dramatically fiddle with the design would be a huge mistake. I just pray that it turns out good.

id like a nice monster dog styled X-metal. MDs are soo comfortable and wrap nicely around my face i think a mean looking X-metal version would be great for the J2 to get the wild side of oakley returning.

What if J2 is just going to be a full framed R2 body. Can anyone photoshop that?

R2 looks awesome on certain angles. You have to own one to understand I am mean and you will like it.

I'm hoping that J2 will play up X-Metals again. Another hybridized version of romeo 2 will be a disappointment. I agree with James that such a release will hurt Oakley's reputation (amongst us freaks) design wise. I suppose I wouldn't mind TOO much if they continued along the metal icon vein in the temple, but I wish they'd never really went that route in the first place for X-Metals.

Truthfully, I'm pretty sure J2 will be a letdown. Romeo 2.0 is bugging me less and less as a design, but Juliet is personal to many of us and I'm sure it'll be one of the most talked about releases this site has ever seen.

A rimless X-Metal? Cool, EC. I thought about something similar but that's just asking for warranty claims. The Why series frequently finds its way back into stores with customers complaining about loose lenses, cracked this, or bent that. The only way a viable three piece mount design would work for an X-Metal is if you had the mounting boot so large that it would completely defeat the purpose of a drill mount. Too bad...

A rimless X-Metal? There wouldn't be enough X-Metal in it to consider it one... actually that's exactly what a why3 is... its stems were made of x-metal right?

I'm with Justin, I'm not a fan of the Romeo II's. I like the Juliets the way they are, don't think they should be changed.
