Scoob, I thought about that myself. I guess you'd have to check teh power specs on both and see. Anyway, mine shipped yesterday and it should be here tomorrow. Can't wait.

aaargh! so jealous of you guys getting the Nano. i was tempted to get a Black 4GB, even had it in the shopping cart, ready to check out before i reconsidered. however, i should stay happy with my 2nd gen 10GB and my 1GB Shuffle.

love to see some good photos of it when you guys have a chance though... still have not seen it in person but i'm still in awe of how small and thin this gadget is.

I'm actually loading up itunes in anticipation of it's arrival right now. So, so many bootleg shows to title and number so they work correctly on the nano...

AFAIK it should be pretty easy to do that in iTunes. you can even rename Artists and Albums in bunches. as for changing track numbers, that's a different story... gotta do those individually.

usually i'm lazy to update ID3 tags, so i just make album playlists on my iPod. since i listen to albums in full from start to end, i find it much easier to locate a particular album like that anyway.

All my ID3 tags are in sync now and I should be ready to go. Artists are consistent, as are album tiltes and track numbers. I should be good to go via the iPods normal selections of Artists, Albums or whatever. I'll do playlists if I have to make it any easier. Hell, they're all already set up as playlists in itunes. Problem, the bootlegs themselves take up 3 gigs and I haven;t added any studio albums yet. This is gonna be tricky to pick what I want to put on but that's what I want, less music to choose from then in my 20gig Archos.

heh... i have the same problem with my bootlegs. i've got a whole bunch stored on my hard drive and use the Shuffle mainly for live bootlegs. on the 10GB full size iPod, i just mainly have studio albums.

with my bootlegs, i'll go into phases of wanting to listen to just Soundboard recordings, or concerts from just a particular tour, etc... so the Shuffle gets loaded, emptied, and reloaded in that respect.

oh , iRiver is a korean brand.

Ive tested both iPod and iRiver.
Basically comparing iRiver to iPod , no offense to anyone here , would be a Porsche in comparison to a Fiat.

I'd like to know too. The iPod nano's 4GB isn't enough, and that 5GB one that iRiver is offerring looks right up my alley.

Can you use the Nano to transport regular files also? Like from work to home and vice versa?

I won't know until I get it but you could on older iPods as long as it was being used on the same platform, not Mac to PC, I think. As far as the iRivers go, I like the style of their players but they don't work with Mac so I figured it was time to take the iPod plunge.

I was pretty sure you could on the regular ipods.

I've heard a lot of good things about the Creative Micro Zen Photo. It being 8gig and having the organice color LED screen, plus it is suppsoed to retail for $249.

I've been wanting an MP3 players for a long time and I could never decide. I wanted something small and cool. Now with the Zen Photo and Nano I still can't decide.

I would like to be able to transport files if possible though.

I've been trying to decide for a while and was going back and forth between the 1gb Shuffle and just paying a few extra bucks for the 4gb mini at some point this fall. Seeing Nano the day it came out synched my decision right there. Now Minis are done and Apple will mnost likely be developing more flash memory based players like this until they're making 10gb and up to replace the rest.

Yes, I looked into iRivers and couldn't find anyting that said they were Mac compatable. I wasn't gonna buy one and try it just to have it not work.

I owned a creative for over a year and the hard-drive spoils easily.

I have never dropped it ; Kept it well without my pockets each time i went out .
i feel so cheated.

What's worse is that the person told me , that since the warranty period of 1 year is over , they wouldn't repair it for me.

They even had the cheek to asked me to buy a new player.

Creative Zen Vision , Archos 20 GB and iAudio X5L are offering mp3 players with added function of video playback.

Well , im not bragging , with an iRiver and Shure E4C , i think you've already got the best the world can ever get.

Listening to music has never been such a joy for me.
as for Mp3 players , last time i was still not confident about mp3 players because the audio quality lost out to cd players.

I must admit im an audiophile and i have got plenty of earphones over the years , to be honest , ety 6i and e4c should be the earphones you all should be looking at , if you all want to get the best from your players.

i liked the iRiver H10 series, but couldn't get used to the vertical touch pad, and i didn't like the button on the side of the unit... they kept getting accidentally pressed when holding and controlling the unit.

as for headphones and earphones, i'm a nut too. my pair of Etymotic Research ER4P are absolutely the best pair of earphones i have the pleasure of hearing and owning. i also have a pair of ER6, Shure E2C, and two pairs of Grados, SR225 and SR60... amongst the countless Sony Eggo headphones and old school Fontopias in my collection.

EDIT: aargh Phil! that Nano is just too sexy! congrats!
must... not... buy... Nano!
