lol, I didn't realise all that had been going on! I thought your mate seemed like a fairly quiet, mild mannered guy, turns out he's an oakley loose cannon :)
The worst part of all of this is that the public has become accustomed to this type of service. My old man used to rip into people if they didn't count their change back to him properly. Try that s*** nowadays and security will be on you quicker than you can say "persimmon".
charlie is an extemely relaxed and chilled person, ive never seen him get overexhited or angry in my life, but he can shout at people so bad when he wants to and his expression or mood will never change.
Maybe I work on getting the real me a job with Oakley first and then from there we can start producing clones for the rest of the world to have. Wow, that's kinda scary.
Seems to me, an intense love for the O would become great sales service. The 'selling ice to an eskimo' philosophy just seems like you're pushing an unwanted product.
What you need to do is clone Phil's brain because if you just cloned him, all you'd have is a guy that looks like Phil that doesn't know crap about Oakley & that would be far more disturbing than anything!
Yeah it would. I mean, another me without the proper influences at a young age may end up never getting contacts and going O or the clone may even end up being into RayBan or Arnette instead.
Like I said, the training is pretty minimal and the staffs are hired hastily in the weeks leading up to the opening, usually from stores that don't even sell sunglasses. And the tornado of product knowledge books and quizzes they lay on the trainees are probably more confusing than helpful for the mostly apathetic staffs that they hire away from shoe stores and clothing outlets and such. I'd venture to say that a good 3/4 of the staffs at O Stores/Vaults have never even heard of Oakley 2 months before a grand opening. Take my word for it, I worked at one, as well as several OPDs, as many of you know. The OPDs were far and away better staff when it came to product knowledge and assistance.
I'll agree with that. Most OPD's I've been to know way more than other vendors. Most SGH's know next to nothing, but occasionally you might get the odd O-freak(Thank god for people like Phil).
Jamie, I was at the grand opening of the Oakley store on Waikiki in Hawaii in the spring and they were slinging margaritas for the customers. Unfortunately, Canada has some of the most strict alcohol laws in the world. I have a beer vending machine just down the street from my apartment here in Tokyo. Can you imagine the Canadian authorities sanctioning something like that? We are way too conservative when it comes to alcohol. The rest of the world is way more liberal than us IMO.
