They actually have another working name other than Monte Frio. Splat I think it was. I'm fuzzy on the story but Monte Frio may be the slang term snowboarders use for a wipeout. $hit, I hope that's not saying too much. How did a few other members here know about Monte Frio anyway?

I've known about it for a while...way back at the beginning of this thread in fact!

Woo! I get to play in the Dann, Ed and Phil "I know something you don't know!" thread.

Montefrio is the street Shaun White grew up on. It IS Stretchline. Splat was the project name/working title- Montefrio will probably be the product name. Mostly O-Matter, but there's a little bit of metal in there too- think Dartboard.

What does it look like? I've seen the production version, but only in a picture, and I have to say most of us aren't going to like it.

I can't spell it out for you, but I'll put it this way. Montefrio is to the wayfarer what the Warden is to the aviator. The problem here is that the aviator style was becoming cool again before the Warden was released.

The wayfarer style is still very uncool, except among men who are over 50, Blues Brothers groupies, and women who threw their panties at Don Henley circa 1981.

What distinguishes the Montefrio is that it will be limited to small-scale surf/skate operations and O-Stores, like the other Stretchline stuff was originally supposed to be. Even my store won't have them, and we get pretty much anything we ask for.

Aren't the original Frogskins similar to the Wayfarer as well?

Hey now! Flava Flav & Brigette Neilsen still wear Wayfarers. White one's, at that & they're still cool, right! Hello? Anyone? ECHO, echo!

I did not know what Wayfarer style meant so I google it and WOOO !

Ugly is the word, but then again it will be stretchline only. Not my taste at all, its not even retro cool.

They're better looking than classic wayfarers, don't worry.

I think Neil's description is a little misleading. It's not so Wayfarer, at least not as much as I think his descriptions leads it to be. It can def be viewed as an o-matter bro to the Crosshiar or Warden but do go thinking o-matter Aviator. Damn, I wish I could just show you all but I can't. I think it's very nice and I believe others here will like it too. I down for it.

And the original Frogskins were very close to the Wayfarer and not close to this frame at all.

I'm with Phil, they're cool. Its a different style. Similar to crosshair like Phil said, just not an o-matter aviator. (No double nose bridge)

I'd have to agree with the original Frogskins being a "wayfarer" style

If this was asked already I apologize. But when is the targeted release date for these? I want the torture to be over with as soon as possible.

I don't know, but maybe Ob or FP does? I would hope late summer/fall (if not now) as I've seen what looks like 5 completed colorways.

Release date depends slightly on how many accounts are carrying stretchline in the next few months, apparently. Definitely by September.

So let me get my info. straight...

- They'll be a hard to find item since it's Stretchline and I read some OPDs won't be able to get them

- Mainly O-Matter with some metal, like the Dartboard

- A cross between a Frogskin and a Crosshair

- With a possible 5 colorways completed

Correct?

Any idea on price? Or any hints to what the colorways will be intially?

Thanks!!

I would say the original OPD Stretchline dealers would get them first. Not the ones that were added later last summer to pick up the any "slack." As for colorways and pricepoint; mostly the basic first release colorways and it looks to be a $95 - $120 frame.

The first colorway will be jet black/grey with silver icons.
