I'd be shocked if there are only 55 available for sale. There's gotta be an asterisk and disclaimer on that number. While Oakley is an NFL partner, I'm sure the license isn't cheap.

I added one to my cart this morning & selected quantity ... there were 17 available for purchase. An hour later, 16. Two hours later, 25. Yeah not very limited edition. “With only 55 available to MVP’s”. I’m gonna read into that & say it’s a 55 pre release with more on the way.

That's probably the best way to read it. There's zero chance a partnership this big and strategic would result in a miniscule number of units being released.

I will bet that they will release more of the Super Bowl Kato. If Oakley doesn't specifically say that the glasses are individually numbered or have some sort of documentation that they are "limited" then you can be certain they are not. I learned that lesson with the MVP Jawbreaker... 150 available according to the email I buy one and then a week or so later they are back on the site again as a general release. Very misleading and don't fall for it!

There is a mark on the inside of the lens. The arm moves a little. The moving part of the arm opens and closes. The nose is the same as the Encoder.

According to someone on Facebook, that mark is on the first 2000 units.

Yes, I heard the same thing from a couple internal sources as the FB guys did. It's suppose to be a "Factory Pilot" logo, but I heard 20,000 units rather than 2,000. We'll see.

Looking forward to the Tokyo version. I’ve also noticed that my Super Bowl Katos have more mirrored iridium on the Prizm Road lenses than the non Super Bowl Prizm Road versions.

I suspect the store mistakenly represented there is a special edition rather than the Kato model itself being the release for the Olympics. That said, I do hope there’s a Tokyo Olympic editions Kato.

There likely will be batch variations with the Kato lenses like there are batch variations with so many other Oakley lenses. In fact, I thought my Super Bowl Kato was defective when I got it because the beak was a shade on the yellow side; the sales sample Prizm Road lenses I’ve previously seen didn't have a yellow beak. It was only when pics of the rest started rolling in that it became clear the yellow beak was normal.

Hey guys just wanted to give everybody a heads up scheels.com has the Kato available for purchase right now! I just got my pair today and they do have the factory pilot etched on the lens. They have 2 colors available black and the ruby lense. Just wanted to let everyone know in case they wanted to scoop them up quick, I’ve been waiting for these for a while and was surprised to even find them for sale right now.
