Not an X metal!... They Do not have a "name" for this line, but other than a bit of style, they are nothing like an x metal

I have not been here for a while. I dropped past for a look and see that a new x-metal has made an appearance.

I don't know what to think! Is that plastic ?

I take it the nose bridge and rear of the ear stems are o-matter?

I assume these are the sections that need to allow some flex.

I like the styling! Its a flagship frame and I am pretty pleased that the look of it is so mad science but I am left wondering why they didn't come up with a metal solution rather than introducing a "weak link" in the form of o matter. Are there not a number of options for flexing metal options that could have done the trick here?

I know the flex couplers made for all sorts of headaches in the original x metal lineup but I just think a lot of people will read the description "x metal frame" and be very disappointed when a semi x metal frame arrives.

Or I could be wrong and it is all alloy.

They are calling it the X-Metal line, but you're right, it's not X-Metal as we thought of it once. X-Metal is now a design language.

O.T.T. Nice to see you around again. It's basically Aluminum with O Matter. I know the flex couplers have been a nightmare for many years, and the X-Squared had seemed to work around it by making the connections points hex screws rather than rivets. But here the O Matter should flex enough to take the stress off, with essentially the same attachment points as the Splice.

They're very sturdy and I wouldn't worry about it.

I really want to preorder them through shadestation, but I feel like I should just wait for them to release on Oakley.com. Not sure what I should do.

Dann, it's good to be back. I took my eye off the O for a while.the review has really grown!

As for Oakley I am Still very uninspired by what is coming out but the old good stuff is as good as it always was.

I actually came by for some advice on RX frames. The site has changed quite a bit. Is there a limitation on starting new threads?

I am using a mobile device so I assume that is causing some issue.

Will do Dann! I can't wait to get my hands on them. I tried on the Madman and Badman at the Frisco event. They are pretty comfortable. The Madman will be the first purchase for me just because they look crazy.

Shouldn't be any limitations. Choose a Topic from the main forum page, and then there will be a few buttons at the top: Add Thread/Poll/News/Wiki

The form will show up below it, so scroll down a bit.

I'm not sure I could pull 'em off with my pasty face, but at any rate, I need to feel them in front of my eyes before I'm sold...

with essentially the same attachment points as the Splice.

I was just thinking that. They are basically an aluminum and o-matter splice. I think the splice were ahead of their time and didn't get the love they deserved.

I had heard that it was going to be special, but the ShadeStation photos don't look promising.

Global release is Feb 15, but some wholesalers have been muddying the waters by releasing early. The two collector events in Feb will be the launch parties.

Whats the word on a limited model. 150 units only 100 units to retail stores...comes with a book and special case? Any truth to that?
