I would like to THANK ALL OF YOU that helped even if it was just moving one box for me, I would not have been able to pull it off had it not been for you selfless people who took away from your time at the show to help me set up my displays. This meant much more to me than anything else I took from the event!!!
I made some new friends, saw some old friends and also put faces to many names I have dealt with for many years... I felt very supported by you all and can not thank you enough for all the compliments and acknowledgements as well, I have as most of you know never shown my entire collection to anyone to include the few hew have been in my personal office at my home and unfortunately this still rings true because we ran out of display space about 2/3 of the way through setting up... I am disappointed by this because I had promised to show everything in its entirety and by a simple miscalculation we were not able to pull it off, this really sucks for me as well because I myself have never seen my entire collection completely displayed and it was my intention to finally make it happen... So for that I do apologize... Many have asked what my total number of glasses inventoried and brought to the show was, that answer is 1373 pairs and yes there were more (approx. 100-125) left at home that are scheduled for modification in the near future with Dr. Chop that I saw no sense in bringing because they are all the same color ways in various styles...
Thank you all for the support, compliments and friendship? You guys and gals are great and I wish you many incredible future purchases, may your collections go where you would wish them to be!!!
FEAR Out!!! - FearGearGarage
For those of you who haven't been able to fully grasp the shear magnitude of his collection, it broke down to this: 17 cabinets, 5 of which were triplewides, several cubes, 3 tables (I think that was the number), and many more display items. That amount of space (equal to 2-3 O stores cabinet space) wasn't enough. There was still 33% not displayed that was actually there. Do the math, that equates to 453 pairs not shown. That is more than several people's collections combined. Hell, that's just shy of 370 more than my collection lol. It was a great pleasure being a part in setting up and helping, regardless of tearing up my toe, tweaking my back, and so on. Just knowing it brought this guy one step closer to being able to actually see his collection in it's entirety is good enough for me. A totally awesome day for all who made it.
It did seem that cash was traded more than anything else. In fact I can't recall if anyone got anything in trade. Jim wanted to give me another shoeone, but I respectfully declined. Made one trip to the Post earlier, and there was no way I could fit anything else onto my carry-ons. - Dann
I got 2 pairs of Shoe One, but that was my goal honestly. Cash is something I can always earn...A piece, or pieces of true Oakley history coming from the Mad Scientist himself is something I can't get.
