W/Fang. That's a nice note to see. I believe there were ones with the clear box too, right. Lee had a Tennis one anyway. I'll have to dig up that photo.

Added the UPC to the database too.

Not sure what that means, but I don't think so? It's my pair.

There were a few older boxes for sale recently, I believe this was one of them. I snagged a RJ box but was trying to make a deal on some others when they disappeared, thought maybe this is where it came from.

Glad I finally dug through my old work server.

So for sport specific versions there's:

Golf - Vented and lighter lenses like Gold/Slate/VR28 and later the dedicate golf lens: G30
Baseball - Straight Stem, used Zero parts to fit under helmet. Low profile nose piece.
Tennis - All Black or White frames with Black Iridium lenses
Cricket - More lenses similar to the Golf line, vented, low profile nose piece

The Tennis model is in as an array, but no other lens options are mentioned. I know I've seen these on the old 1997 era websites and brochures, so this may be worth looking into. - Dann

Something I noticed recently, not sure if this is what you meant when referring to the Cricket pairs but it would appear the Golf specific pairs came with the same nose piece as the Zero line.

Despite apparently writing that post, I have no recollection as to what I was talking about. Good to know though. I guess if they were using the Zero stems, they may as well used the sock and nosepiece kit as well to keep inventory levels consistent.

Perhaps, but the golf specific frames used Hammer stems.

I think it related to the need to fit under a helmet. But the choices of low profile nosepieces is one of those hard things to research unless you have some fresh examples that have never been touched or altered.

Back from the dead....

I just spent the last 30-40 minutes reviewing this thread.

Does anyone remember or have a copy of any order sheets or literature with the algae M Frame in it? Curious as to available lenses that were offered.

You looking for that old fold out that used to come with the early 90's frames that had all the nice color photos? One of these?

Just looking for any catalog reference that has the algae frame listed or pictured. I assume the inserts would be the same as the other M's.

I got tagged on the other forum with a question. Some of the earlier M Frame lenses had date codes and other markings under the nose piece. Does anyone know what NTPC means on the lens? I'm thinking some code for lens use? Military, impact or coating code perhaps?

It might have something to do with the clarity of lenses. Back when their marketing talked about Polaric Ellipsoid Geometry and HDO. They had these displays and ads with something similar to the eye chart from the optometrist with their spin on it. So you could look at it through their lenses versus another brand when you were in the store. I'm only guessing on this, not sure.

NTPC in the lens world typically means "Non-Tintable Polycarbonate". Polycarb is usually more difficult to tint than other lenses, so tinting is typically done through the various coatings. I would think NTPC also suggests the polycarb lenses was dip coated to obtain whatever tint it currently has. Or it could mean something totally different in "Oakley lingo".

To be honest, until I happened upon that dealer sheet a few years back that was lying in a rep briefcase, I had huge gaps in the database for most of the M Frames. I had frame and lens options, but never the official stock combos. I sifted through all of those, plus the catalogs Rob Lake sent to me, so anything I've ever come across is in the DB as it stands. I've linked to any old catalog or sheet in the Catalog portion of the DB here, but that's pretty much all I've ever seen.

I’ve always wondered what NTPC stood for. Thanks Oak. I’ve also seen NT1.

I’ve got my eyes out looking for Algae references.

It's too bad Scott Bowers isn't around. He'd probably have some rep or marketing collateral from the mid-late nineties that would greatly help.
