I am a big fan of this model but it never seems to get mentioned in any forum chat. whenever anyone talks about favourite models or old school classics little is said about the xx.With all the colour ways it was released in i was expecting it to be a firm favourite with everyone. So is the xx hard done by or just not popular.

The Twenty? I'm lovin' it. IMO THE Frogskin, hands down. So sleek, so smooth, and such a great fit... always looking to add an original colorway not already in the collection!

I've picked up a few xx, but never really so much in their heyday to really make them a staple of what I wore. I think they are generally very well regarded. I would equate them to comfort food, they are just a nice feel-good pair that everyone can enjoy, but that doesn't scream so loud as to attract a lot of attention or discussion.

The XX is one of my favorite frames of all time. I agree that it is an oft overlooked frame, but my FSU XX's are required wear on gamedays!! Aside from that, they never leave the case. I also have a pair of original Ruby XX's that I love. Incredibly comfortable, great wrap, and lightweight. There's a new Ten (X), how long can it be until Oakley releases a new XX?

Managed to locate a pair with box. Although there were some tiny surface scratches/cleaning marks on the lenses, I simply couldn't pass 'em up. Only the second pair I've ever seen:

Love the XX. Have a few. Great frame - great lens options. Truly timeless.

I remember not long after the o-review started up Dann mentioned that those not able to afford a Ruby J could just grab a black/Ruby XX.

I had been a real snob up until then and had always saved that bit harder to buy a pair of wires or an x metal frame, seeing the o-matter as inferior.

Dann's comment stuck with me but I never did anything about it. Then a few years back I got a pair of jet black / G30 as a free gift and I have never looked back. I now have 4 pairs in various states of repair.

It is without question my favourite model.

It is relatively cheap, well styled, well balanced, provides great coverage, it is light, comfortable, grippy and in my eyes the best, purest piece offered by Oakley. I am a die hard x metal fan and the Juliet is probably the most awesome piece, especially when you read up on the design and manufacturing process but the XX just does it all, does it well, and does it without shouting about it too much.

One pair I have came to me via ebay. Their FMJ coating was peeling but I had other plans, I am stripping it back to the bare o-matter and aim to wear it as a naked frame with grey lenses and black unobtainium. I know it will have been put together as a package with the styling, manufacture, coating and lenses but I feel that taking the coating off is a bit like the way you see some Ferrari models with a glass engine cover. It lets you see whats going on underneath.

May sound a bit strange but what else do you expect from a bunch of guys who fetishise a particular brand of sunglasses:-)

Still today you can't beat an XX. Classic colors and a great fit. Pre MD and classic. Love the XX's and especially the lens options.

During the 'D.E. stock' heyday of a local icon-type store in a nearby outlet mall, I ran through a crazy amount of xx. The FMJ with fire, emerald and ice were always favorites. But the ruby, red skull and a few others were always great to find. I think I have a decent catalog of pics of the xx I cam across ... will find a way to upload and post.

I gotta agree with the crowd on this one. My blood XX's still look and feel great on me. Styles change with the times, but I think these have stood strong and are still a frame I can(and do) see myself wearing many years after their release. And as an added bonus, the frame options are superb. I love my Bengals.

See if I remember how to get pics up:

Work likes to block about half the pic crap out there ... so I can't tell for sure if the above are showing right for folks. But just let me know.

Fixed

Here's mine:

Kentucky Blue Collegiate line. I had an Orvis exclusive polarized but parted with it as it was many shades of brown, and I don't care how limited it was. Had a 24K Collegiate one too, but that went to a member here.

FMJ Red. That was a killer frame color.

Was the Orvis really that limited? I'm with you Dann, that thing was too brown for me.

I am a huge fan. I have three pair I customized: Jet Black/Ice polarized blue earsocks, jet black/Emerald Ir. polarized with green earsocks, and crystal black/Fire Ir. polarized with orange earsocks. (in addition to the other 4 pair I have of this frame).

XX is one of my favorites, especially in the summer when I need a pair that will stay put.
