Another update-swam in about 2 feet of water and the watch died. JUST called Oakley and am going to send it in. They did say that, because the watch is older, they don't have extra parts...
Update from last year's post:
Since I've gotten the D2, I've also gotten the Crankcase, GMT, Judge, and Crush 2.0. However, the D2 is still my "go-to" watch for sports and work (firefighter/fire safety inspector). I also wore it while going through the firefighter academy. It held up like a champ! To replace the strap is about $22.50. Mine was tearing when I got it, though. Anyway, mine was covered in sweat, pounded with water, and abused to the limits. It's still running like a champ! I got my girlfriend the smaller version and she loves it. She is using hers while doing biology research in the rainforest. It's holding up very well.
The D2 is light, has a lot of features, and is rugged. I'd suggest it for anyone wanting a sporty digital watch. Good for sports events, tactical situations, or just an everyday wearer.
I just picked up one from a friend. This watch feels very average to me. Contrary to other posts, I found this watch very counter-intuitive. The center button on the face could have been removed completely, as it only functions as holding a button on another watch might. It's an extra step.
However, it is very comfortable. It's one of the few watches I can wear while asleep. I'll "notice" others during tossing and turning. I appreciate the size of the face and its readability. I also like how the light only lights up the numerals, and not the entire face like other watches might. If you can get one for under $50, go for it. Unfortunately, this is one of the very few Oakley products which I believe is not worth the price.
Just got a Black/Black, today. Very sporty style and almost weightless. Tons of features and can be overwhelming, at first. Great watch!
Color: Black/Red
Great sports watch. A lot of options/settings. You can beat the crap outta of it. I swam with dolphins with mine. The styling resembles a Blade, which is pretty sweet.
Watch functions well, and I really like the style. The crystal is amazing- No scratches. I never take it off ....until, first the band-holder mysteriously ripped/fell off. Then about a month later I was taking off a long sleeve sweater and the band broke. (I didn't think was being rough)
Oakley was great about replacing the band ($22.50). Good turn-around time.
But, I will be much more careful when taking off shirts from now on.
BTW- My first battery lasted approx. 2 years.
Color: Black/Red
This classic Oakley digital just screams the Big O. I got mine from eBay and I'm glad I did. I use it for weekend drives, for snorkeling and other watersports. The use of unobtanium makes the watch grip your wrist better, eliminating twisting. Just be a bit careful when putting them on and taking them off, since the sliding fastener could crack in time.
Grey
Since the Oakley discontinued the digital watch series, I've been stocking up on digital model. I use them for running and other sports.
I've used other sports watch, like Casio, Timex (ugh!), Pulsar, Nike (Ugh! x 100)... nothing beats Oakley. Oakley should just add solar panel on it, and bring back D1 and D3!!
Frame: Black/Red
Nice watch, but I dont really do digital watches. Good for when I'm working out or running or just out and about in some relaxed attire. Very durable though as I have had mine for a while and no damages at all.
Black/Red
I have never really done the watch thing until I got this watch as a gift from work. I absolutely love this watch! Very well made and well designed. No flaws as far as I am concerned.
Crystal Blue/Silver
Bought for my eldest after he lost his crush red skull.
He's abused this watch to the max and still it keeps going, hardly a sign of wear. never a day goes by when it's not on his wrist. If these are to be discontinued, I need to get a replacement.

Very durable watch, I've been using/abusing mine for the past year and it is in perfect working condition. It does get a bit uncomfortable when sweating, due to the wide onobtanium (rubber) band. Also, the viewing angles of the LCD arent very good, you have to angle it just right to get a good view in the sunlight.

This is a really cool watch, especially if you're into your sports. My brother owns one for sailing, and it does everything he needs it too, and it looks great in addition! Seems really good quality also, considering he's given it a good beating over the last few years.

Great sports watch. I bought it for runs, gym and roughing it. It certainly does it's job and does it well. Good design and good quality. Easy to use.

This watch is excellent so far. I recieved it about a week ago and have had no problems. Large face, excellent features and a nice strap that grips your wrist when wet. I highly suggest purchasing this watch. Check overstock.com, they have this watch for an incredible price that makes it an even better deal.

A well made watch that has recieved a hand full of abuse on my part. It's hold up well for it's first year except just recently the strap holder on the band broke, but I'm fixing to place an order for another band. Unfortionatly Oakley is going to discontinue the digital series and carry on with their analog. But I have a feeling that soemthing cool is going to take it's place. Come'on it's Oakley!

This is a great watch. Three separate alarms, big clear face, very scratch resistant (no scratches after 2 years+), comfortable. Intuitive in use. Nothing wrong with this watch, everything is right. It would be nice to see Oakley expand their digital offerings, as it is obvious they know how to do it right. (Aside: Further colours would also be nice - Pearl with a different 'jellybean' colour on each button, or Crystal Red with Silver buttons, would be sick.)
Update 06/09/04:
The part of the buckle that holds down the band broke just after having Oakley replace the battery. Very disappointing as I can't wear the watch with the band flapping around. The calendar is good until 2050, so I would expect the watch to last longer than two years, especially as I baby this watch. Bit the bullet and bought a new one. We'll see how it goes. It's still a very tight fit to get the band through, I'm paranoid it will break again. Downgraded to four out of five stars. If this D2 breaks I'll have to advise against this watch completely.
