While searching for a database for Oakley glasses
I purchased my first pair of Oakley's in high school, eye jackets, after I saw Dennis Rodman wearing them on TV. I thought they were the coolest looking sunglasses I'd ever seen at the time but looking back now they look a little foolish.

They ended up breaking and it wasn't until much later when I started making some money that I purchased another pair, Staight Jacket's. I've been alternating between O-matter and wire frames as I like a variety which is one of the best things about Oakley, they have a pair for every style. I've been slowly building my collection since and hopefully will have something that comes close to some of the awesome collections I've seen here.

To me they look like New Square Wire with VR28 lenses. Maybe SKU 12-923? The SKU should be on the inside of the left stem unless it's been worn off.

Any idea when these are to be released?

I made this point recently as well. It seams Oakley has been systematically reducing the amount of information they provide on their website.

You used to get info on lens tints, light transmission, frame dimensions. These were all helpful if, like me, the nearest store is hours away and you were looking to compare without trying anything on.

Thanks for the tip Dann but it seems like a cumbersome way to find out the lens type. I still don't understand why they don't just include it in one the webpage.

It use to do that but now only shows the frame colour

I find it really annoying that the site no longer even states what lens is in which model. It not only states frame colour.

Also the frame dimensions are no longer in the description which makes it hard to judge if a new style will fit your face.

Looks like all the Q2 releases have hit the site. The Ruby Fade Collection looks appealing.

Graphene is actually a sheet of Carbon atoms that is only one atom thick. It has some amazing properties but it's so expensive I can't see it being used in consumer good in the near future.

This is probably some hybrid carbon-based material that is using the Graphene name for promotional purposes. Unless they charge 10,000's of dollars per frame.

Finally got around to picking up some Randolph Engineering for the rotation and collection. I went with the Aviator and its military history:

- Oak

I bought the same pair a couple years ago. Really love the style as they seem to be the only aviators that look half decent on my face. Although I find them to be a little heavy. If I get another pair I'll try the polycarbonate lenses instead of glass to see if that makes a diffenrence

I see the Holbrook Metal is now listed for sale on the Canadian site. Although they only have two colourways showing.

I found Holbrooks to be front heavy when they were made of O-matter so I'll be curious how they manage to make the frame metal without adding too much weight. The nosebombs and Unobtanium on the earstems will help I suppose.

I wonder what those connector pieces are made out of? They look like metal but that would probably make it too heavy. Other than that they look very similar to a Sliver. Very interesting.

If that's the case then it would be pretty sweet. I love Daily Prizm but it would be even better with an iridium coating

So now it sounds like they are defining PRIZM Snow as the technology in the Torch Iridium colorway. - H01B3RG

OK, the reason I asked is the colourway was just listed as Torch Iridium but the photo looks like it has a PRIZM etching on the lense. I wasn't sure if this was just a rendering mistake or there was a new PRIZM lens coming out.

Is that Sliver XL Lead/Torch combo a Prizm lens? Would this be the same Prizm Torch as the goggle lens

And that Corten frame colour is pretty sweet

Another Sliver just arrived in the mail.

I see the this is now up on the site. No sign of the other new releases yet though.

OK that's what I had heard. It's too bad because I'd like to have them be consistent with the other polarized/prizm lenses I have.

I wonder why they would do this? The lenses must be blank to allow for custom etching and if you don't get any they are shipped as is. I may have to get a custom etching that says "POLARIZED"

No if you order a etched lens that is polarized it will not say polarized. Your etching replaces the polarized etching.

OK thanks. I had heard it wouldn't even say polarized without any custom etching.

So they do have the Polarized etching on the lens somewhere at least?

Has anyone ordered a custom pair with polarized or prizm lenses? If so, do the lenses have the regular etching on them? I've heard they're not when you go though the OCP.

Guess I should have checked in while on vacation, I would like something in a Medium but looks like they're all sold out.

Not a good sign. Maybe we'll need to start a J-Review soon?
