Is it just the Vancouver olympic pin
that did not come with a back board? - HED4JC

I dont remember ever seeing one. Nice addition with the China pin. I looked a long time before i found mine.

Is it just me or does the stretch logo look like something that was on counterfeits a few years back?

Thanks for catching me up.... I didnt pay attention to any new releases this year at all.

Not a latest purchase but it feels like it.

2 pairs that have been AWOL for years have been located.

A Penny and a Plate. It's almost like Christmas!

Thanks for the info Dann!

It looks like it is an actual bronze lens though w/o the gold iridium finish. I'll try to find both lenses and hold them side by side.

I dont know that it matters but the date on the GIP box is 2001, the date on the BP is 2005, which would be backwards of the timeline presented.

I was digging through a box of empty boxes seeing if I have any pairs that matched up and I ran across something interesting. I found an old gold Five box with a label for 2.0 Dark Amber / Gold Iridium Polarized with the number 12-807

I also have a pair of 2.0 Dark Amber / Bronze Iridium Polarized with the same 12-807 number on the box. It is a later white Icon polarized box.

Did Oakley release 2 different pairs with the same part number?

Does anyone have the GIP pair with the box?

Dec 14, 2019 1:18 PM
Short answer is no. The glasses themselves were not serialized. As far as production numbers we can only go off of rumors and box labels. Originally thought to be 500 but boxes have shown up with much higher numbers.

What is the SKU for the associated 5 Fuel Cell? - Zeke

The only pair I am aware of is the Crankcase and it doesnt have a SKU since it was never an official release.

OCP is Oakley Custom Program where you build custom pairs online or in the store. Those lenses a lot of the time wont be etched so you can add your custom etching to it at check out.

Great video and I thought it was pronounced re-do like it was French and they are re-doing the Eye Jacket. Learn something every time I log in here.

Prototype OTT

I think most of us old timers know who Donnie Faulkner is. For those who aren’t familiar, Donnie (along with his wife Holly) ran the NHRA Rolling O from 1999 to 2009.

Donnie and Holly were the source of the majority of Scelzi Romeo 2 and Five 3.0 that ended up in collectors’ hands. Using their superior customer service, they shipped out orders worldwide for OR members and even got the boxes signed by Scelzi for whoever asked for it. Before that, I didn’t even know they offered such a service.

After Donnie left Oakley he liquidated most of his collection on eBay. Having reported directly to JJ and being in tight with all of Oakley’s sponsored drivers such as Scotty Cannon and Gary Scelzi, you can imagine the collection he amassed. The quality of his items rivaled Total_O’s from back in the day. Signature one-off X-metals, rare promo items such as Oakley beer, custom made Oakley rings and much more were part of his lot.

An interesting item that eventually ended up in my collection is one of the Prototype OTTs (of which Donnie had a few versions):

I think the pair is made out of some resin. Certainly it’s fragile. No idea why it’s shaped the way it is. A key feature I found intriguing is at some point the OTT was envisioned to have nosebombs with a similar design to the original Racing and Water Jackets. Maybe they will have that feature when Oakley re-visits the OTT again one day.

Donnie is a great guy. I have quite a few cool pieces from him. Gonna see him again when we are traveling for a concert in January

Honestly I am still on the fence with this one. I KNOW its just the beginning and I know that vast improvements will be made over the next months / years on this project. Right now I am using a 3+ y/o Droid that has served me well. Im just waiting for this switch in my brain to tell me it is worth the massive investment for a phone because that's honestly how I use it. With multiple trips scheduled next year will the camera features win me over to justify the costs. Time will tell.
