I'm into graphic/web design and I do a lot of photography on the side. I currently work for Apple Computer as a "Creative" in Columbus Ohio.

I've been fascinated with Oakleys ever since I read the "Supreme O" article in Wired magazine back in '99. My first pair were black Minutes, which I still have (just a little scratched) 14 pairs and 4 watches later, I'm more obsessed then ever. I managed to score a free Oakley display case from my dealer (yeah, I know I was really lucky) since I bought 5 pair from her.

I use to host a site oakleyicon.com which Oakley bought from me. I now host O-Desktops.com with the same content, just a different name.

I also have a portfolio site: www.IdeaAttic.com

I have a pair of Dartboards which I love the look of but there a little too wide for my face. If I bend them a little they fit perfect the only problem is there is no frame around the lens. Is there anyway to bend the glass so it stays?

I'm staying in Laguna Beach for a week with my aunt and was thinking about making the short trip to Oakley HQ. I assume there are no tours, but are you free to wonder the lobby and take pictures? Is there a store in there?

Posted 5 new desktops.

I noticed that a lot of people are using 1024 x 768 as their screen resolution. All the the desktops I've been designing have been 1920 x 1200 (I have a large screen). I was wondering if this large dimension was causing viewing problems for anyone?

good call, it got lost in the mix up. I will upload it in a few days when I do the new desktops.

I'm doing some desktops with this type of abstract design:

does anyone have more images like this? I got it from oakley.exblog.jp and I can't find anymore on the web.

Does anyone have a request for a certain desktop?

Some of you might remember a site I had awhile back (oakleyicon.com) that Oakley quickly bought off me. I had all kinds of oakley wallpapers and info on it. After Oakley took it over, I decided to go the blog rout and tried posting weekly. Well, that didn't work too well as I haven't updated it for over a year. I decided to revise the old oakleyicon layout and get a new domain name. So here it is guys: http://www.o-desktops.com

hope ya like it :)

we sell this in our Apple store. I'm very disappointed in Oakley. This case is defiantly not up to their standards. The iPod looks like it would fall right out of it.

After 5 years of searching, I finally got another display case. I picked up one of the tall displays from a cycle shop. The guy was super nice. He said he wants to sale through all the glasses and stop carrying them. He said when their all gone, I get the other tall display as well.

I paid $150 for it and he through in 4 Oakley holders. The plexiglas has some scratches on it. I tried to buff them out as best I can but I think I'm just going to get new ones made.

I was an IT major in college and programed on PS the 5 years I was there. Right after I graduated I bought a PowerMac. I now work for Apple Computer. I will never go back to a PC. OSX is a LOT more stable then windows and the iPods work a hell of a lot better on MACs.

When I was visiting my aunt in NYC back in the summer of 2000, she asked me what I would like to do while I visited. I told her the only thing I really wanted to do was see David Letterman. Her husband (vice pres of JP Morgan at the time....yeah, the bank) actually went to school with Bruce the sax player in the band. After seeing the show, Bruce invited us up on stage and ended up going out to eat with us at a bar that Letterman, and Shaffer frequent. Bruce has won tons of Grammies and composed a lot of music for TV shows. I was speechless the whole time...eating with a Grammy winner!!

While I was in NYC the first X-Men was playing. We went to see it in some huge theater where a lot of premiers take place. It was very surreal as the Statue of Liberty that was in the movie can be see as you walk out of the theater.

Oh and Dave Chapelle, Mark Curry, the band Collective Soul, and a bunch of sports players come into Apple all the time.

what program should we make standard? The 3 page article that your using was done in Quark, which I still have the original files for. The other 2 file were done in Aperture. I also have some Illustrator files + some other O type things on my site.

Found some things out with Apeture. Apple wont print the book unless you get permission from Oakley if we use their logo or ads. However, I may have some contacts that will get me around that issue since I work for Apple.

I'm at work now and I've been playing around with the program all day. It will with out a doubt be the best solution for printing. Everything is drag and drop. It's able to take jpg and RAW files, not files from Quark or InDesign. The program is intended to make a simple book. If we want it fancy, then we're going to have to be tricky with Photoshop like I have demonstrated in the following images.

I'm going to dig around an see what our risk is by using some of Oakleys Ads, and what process needs to be taken to give them credit.

I have that Aperture on my Mac and I'm going to try to come up with some layouts using it's book feature. It will also let you save PDF's of the book. It's so amazingly simple.
