Hey guys, I have personally met O-Gear. His name is James, and he's a really nice guy. The reason he put his collection up on ebay was to garner attention to it, much like how we put our collections on show here on O-Review. He knows full well that his collection is not worth 38K. He intentionally priced it too high for anyone to seriously consider. He has a much better collecting acumen than anyone I've seen on this site, save Dann and Terrorism. His devotion to the perfect collection is enviable. His contacts within Oakley are unrivaled anywhere. He collects for the sake of collecting alone. Make him an offer on any single pair of Frogskins, and he'll turn you down, just because he's a completionist. We all share his malady, he just happens to have more resources than most of us. He also has every Razor Blade ever, every Gascan, and a few others. He does have a few random pairs on eBay, and yeah they're expensive, but they're cheaper than other pairs. For example, he sold a Moda3 Splatter for $350. There are assholes right now hocking a "common" Neon Yellow/Fire for $449. If he gets his hands on something rare, he keeps it, if he gets more than one, he passes it on. He posted the Valentines Frogskin for $4000 just so people could see it existed, back when there were only rumors. He had no intention on selling it, and he priced it as such. He was aware of O-Review, but when he got on the site, he couldn't find a sign-up feature, so he thought we were a good-ol-boy kind of network. I was cruising this site for more than a month before I got desperate and sent Dann an email begging to be let on. When I told him that's all he had to do, he was on this site for all of a day before he was booted. I'm sure someone reported him as a scalper. One of the reasons he wanted to get on was to share a few of his rare pieces with true collectors. He had an extra DQM and a Knight Rider that he was going to post at $350 apiece. I'd call both of those a bargain. When he gets his hands on another DQM or Livestrong, he's promised them both to me. That's not the sign of a scalper, that's the sign of a collector who wants to help out his fellows. When an employee of our local Vault injured his arm and was away from work for a while, James went out of his way to get a Woodgrain Montefrio, Scott's holy grail, which were going for between $150 and $250 that week, for him and took it to his house, over 100 miles away from James' home, just to help him feel better. If anyone is impugning his values, then they are impugning mine as well. I'm actually quite ashamed of how we've treated him, and I apologize for our actions whenever I see him.
