This is not funny at all anymore... Seriously this is not about just collecting with a price like that. This is more like a hobby for elite people if you see this :O
I want to remind people that it is simple supply and demand.Personally, I think they should be worth around 1400-1500 on average. The US dollar is becoming worthless so I have no doubt that its international money you are seeing spent. Our over seas friends are becoming more exposed to the American market exponentially. We have new collectors being born everyday. My opinion is that you will see buyers forking out big bucks to seal the deal on that last piece for their collection. I know I paid up the wazoo for my last purchase.
I feel like I should be throwing a party or something to celebrate completing my collection.....lol
I was just wondering what everyone's opinion was regarding some of the latest "Artist" releases and whether or not they would be considered for the Complete Artist Series list. In specific i mean the Kate Voegele Beckon and the Caia Koopman Immerse and Fringe. I know Caia's Ravishing model was included but not the Forsake so I was just wondering what the status on the current models were.
i think the Koopman Forsake was marketed as a Signature Series pair, and not an Artist Series pair. so that's the reason why it wasn't included in the list.
Ya, that is correct. For the record I do want to make it a point that there are a few rare crossovers items that should be considered as part of AS list. One is The London Police goggles..... IMO they fit into the category of "eyewear' so they do just barely scrap by as being part of the main-line AS. Clothing, scarves, and other miscellaneous Artist Series stuff only supports the main product line so I don't consider them as part of a "complete" collection.....but I do still collect them anyway.
More notably, in my opinion I believe that any eyewear that includes artwork from the original AS sunglasses or copies them should be considered part of the AS collection. Caia is an exclusion here as her signature designs don't reference her fine art endeavors that she is known for and reflected in the AS. There is an instance in which Oakley did do this and it is the only piece in my collection where similar AS artwork and sunglasses design made it to another piece in which it is claimed Signiture Series. I 100% include them in my AS collection as the two items look like they were developed together and of course they are no doubt from the same design pallet, artist, and mirror the work that the artist is know for. Forgive me if I am reluctant to say what it is. What I will say is that…… it is limited and becoming really hard to find, it’s not cheap, it is a pain in the ass to get…….. But, if you do look hard enough you will find a piece of eyewear looks just like another pair of glasses in the AS line up. Put them next to each other and the lines blurs even more. Very cool in my opinion....lol
I'd say it's a tossup whether using the Dispatch is a good choice. I mean, it's great seeing glasses other than GC or Hijinx being a vehicle for the art, but the Dispatch offers such a small canvas that the art will appear to be more like a pattern or an abstract piece. That detracts from the art, I think. And IMO, the most disappointing pieces in the Artist Series lineup are the Petterson Frogskins, Don Pendleton, etc. because of that reason. Also IMO, I think the best pieces tend to focus on a character or subject. The characters/models in the Flores pieces, Caia Koopman, C100 GC, Todd Francis, and London Police are my favourites because of that focus. I hope, if they continue the series, the next artist is one who tends to do portraits or something similar.
