I got so many calls today from friends asking if I the news since they all know I am a nutcase Oakley fan. Funny thing is, I wasn't home all day, so I hadn't seen the news until now. He had that one coming! You can't screw the O like that and expect to get away with it. That is just plain stupid...There has to be a few more involved though. Those G26 Polar lenses can only be made or authorized by a limited number of people. It is near impossible for just anyone to get anything done. You have to be someone with clout, famous, or a good friend of a higher up to get anything done. Also, how the hell do you drive off with 9000+ pieces??? That is NUTZ! I can't fathom what 9000 pieces looks like, let alone figure out how you remove that much inventory and go un-noticed!!!

if you had ever seen the assembly and packing section of the factory, you would better understand some of the comments, but regardless, theft happens no matter what race is involved and it shouldn't be the burden to bare for the whole race. It isn't a racial problem, but theft is a mental problem. Unfortunately, the cheap labor seems more isolated here stateside. It is ugly all the way around! There are some serious idiots that speak out of the wrong end, that is for certain!

Good thing they got him, and yeah, 9000 freaking pieces !?!

I thing it is very unlikely that he did this alone, but alone or not, Oakley will surely review their security practices at HQ... Insane.

Thanks for the read.

Does anyone know the name of the ebay user that was selling these?

I recently bought a "limited prototype" run of xmetal xx's. They are a polished frame, with a VR28 blue iridium lens.

The guy I got them from sounded very legitimate, and he said that he used to work for Oakley, but hasn't been there for a few years now, and is just selling off some of his stuff that he had collected.

I hope I didn't help fund a thief :(

I think if I am not mistaken it was ozcollector2008...He was the one selling the G26 Polarized mentioned in the OC Register write-up and is also "No Longer A Registered User"...Imagine that HAHA

I think he had a second account also because there were 2 users selling with nearly identical pictures, but it's hard to say...

Wow! That's just crazy.. with all the unusual O stuff that pops up on eBay, this prolly isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened either.

I hope I didn't help fund a thief :(
I think there's a pretty good chance you just might have :/

40 pair sold.. rare/prototype stuff, you just know at least half of those have ended up with members here, right?

So go on.. fess up ;)

well, that sounds more like a Bmcaps (or also knon as LDCaps, yeah cover your arse and stay clear), or amermsclemustang...They get used or new frames from others on ebay, swap lenses around (usually Keystone lenses), and call them limited, factory custom, or some other total line of $h@t to pump them up as something special. Who was the seller?? If you don't mind...

I sent you a private message. I don't want to post his userid in case it wasn't him.

I also sent you a couple of other pm's before, haven't heard back from you in a bit though.

I've actually made a purchase from both amerc and bmcaps. I had a bit of problems with amerc in that I was sniped last second on an auction and surprise surprise, it was then later relisted a week or so afterwards. I ended up paying a bit more than I would have won it for originally, but I'm overall happy with that transaction (juliet titanium frame, with gold lenses)

The purchase from bmcaps was a bit difficult (xmetal xx TiO2 frame) in that when I got it, one of the T6 screws was completely screwed up. I ended up sending it to Oakley to have the lenses replaced (that was already mentioned in the auction) and they were able to extract the screw. I did get a partial refund from bmcaps for that.

All this customs stuff being paassed down as being rare when they're actually customs is getting real annoying. True, some are legit, but the vast vast majority are scams.

I was hoping it was BMCaps or armuscleracing (or whatever), but I guess it was just one of the factory line workers.

That's just crazy! Everyone knows that you don't keep that much stolen loot in your house! That's what a storage unit is for! LOL.

Maybe not in parts - but I'd venture to say a great deal of us has way more than 9K of O in their homes.

Glad they caught the scumbag though..... That was great info.

that is 9k items, not 9k in value. I can't fathom how much that would be, even if there are a lot of single lenses and what not, that is unreal!!!

I know that doesn't count clothes, stickers and such but a medium sized O-Store holds around 12K items in inventory TOTAL! We have quite a bit of clothes/shoes/stickers/cases/ect, that are not pairs of glasses.

Thats an interesting statistic. I'd venture most of us carry way more than that in our personal collections....
