got this today, and it looks suspect. No banners or logos, but how would they know I just ordered something, and have the e-mail I used.

Dear Valued Customer,

We screwed up. It's no excuse, but due to the extremely busy
holiday season we have been unable to fulfill all of our
orders in the time expected. Your order is being processed
and will be shipped, but we are sorry to report that it may
not arrive before Christmas. We understand that timing is
critical for holiday shopping and we are making every effort
to ensure this does not happen again in the future.

Your satisfaction is extremely important to us and since we
ruined Christmas we'd like to offer you 25% off any one item
and free ground shipping on your next purchase. If you'd like
to take advantage of this offer, please call 866-907-5757
before July 1, 2008 and provide your original order number
to one of our customer sales representatives who will be
happy to provide you with this discount.

With sincere apologies,

Oakley

Since they are not asking for any personal info - thats actually pretty cool. Wow - good customer service from Oakley - who would have thought?

Is it the Lux influence?

Nik I think you are right. If your not sure Dann you can call oakley directly and ask them what department of Oakley this number is associated with.

It is how I would address my screw ups with my customers. It is not just good bunsines, it is the right thing to do. Oakley in its recent past were to arrogant to address this before, but maybe the policy is changing to the old school ways, where the customer is always right. If Lux is responible for this behavoir change then Oakley and it's faithful buyers are better for it.

Nik I love the new avatar.

I got the same e-mail also. I knew my order wasn't going to get here before Christmas so its pretty cool to get 25% off something in the future. It'll have to be another artist series though since I can't get those through my employee discount.

Certainly looks legit to me.

I'm quite impressed that they sent the email out so early, gives you plenty of time to get a replacement present (unlike those bastards at Amazon who've just emailed me saying "We know that holidays can be stressful and wanted to relieve a portion of that stress by reassuring you that your package should leave our Fulfilment Centre soon. Despite the slight delay, we expect your order to arrive in time for Christmas." this is slightly worrying given that they emailed me the day before yesterday to confirm that the parcel had shipped that day and given that the postman round these parts doesn't do weekend deliveries. I get the feeling I'll be elbowing people in the throat on Christmas Eve afternoon while I fight my way towards the last ipod in the shop).

Looks good but, don't you think they would have put their contact number in the E-Mail.

nah, simple oversight...It's not like it stands out and says "Hey Call Me"...Maybe done so you are pissed at first, and you will probably miss it by shear frustration that your gift isn't going to make it...If it were bold, you would probably be more prone to finish reading it...Emotion is a pain

From other's comments, sounds like it sure is legit. Plus, the tone of the email seems to sound about right for Oakley - undertones of laid back.

Pretty fair deal, too - 25% off another item. Sounds like the time to place that order for the diamond T.T. has come!

Thats pretty cool, this will be good when a future Art series or an expensive frame comes out, wich should be any seconds now.
