Wow, that's like selling a child. That would be hard for anyone! I hope he got what he needed out of it.

As sad as it is to see a collection go, I totally applaud the guy for selling it in order to go back to school. If there's one good reason out there to part with something you're passionate about, I think education and bettering yourself for the future is a worthy cause.

As such, I salute him.

which will get you a better salary and thus buy more Oakley's. Good call.

It's gotta hurt a bit for sure.. and you have to respect someone who can make a tough call like that. Looks like he did pretty good though on that listing too.

On another note, (it's been mentioned before) it's like open season on Oakley display cases and towers these days. Looks like the "ban" is all but lifted now.

I know one thing for sure: whoever that dude is I highly doubt he'll be skipping any classes!

Now I see that I have taken my "full tuition and books paid for until I graduate" Scholarship for granted. When I look at the receipts online for how much my scholarship has paid for each semester, it’s hard to imagine that $9,100 could possibly pay for that much college. Hopefully that dude has or plans on getting a job while going to school.

That's about a semester....when I started in '97 anyway. Let's hope it's a state school, or going towards a Masters.

Makes you wonder what you could get for your own collection-I used to think I would be lucky to get $10k for it...now I see that is grossly underrated.

I dunno, makes you wonder but the guys lives near D&Y so shipping would be out, must have been some one local? Hope the buyer pays...?

Think you get more out of it if you sell each item separately. But that would take more effort and time. It's a choice.

Yeah If he needs the money for school I think hes making the right decision. (Given that he doesnt have any other options)
He could always start a new collection .. but the rare ones would be.. well rare to find! ehehe!

Best of luck to him!
