I have a 2006 Red Ducati Monster S2R 800.

I don't get to ride it too often, but I do really enjoy it :)

To Iggy: In my opinion, you CANNOT, and I repeat, CANNOT beat a Honda Rebel for a starter bike. I have one that I ride around the yard and It's great! Everyone else I talk to says that's the best also.

To O-static: a sportster would be a good starter bike if you have to have a Harley. Hayabusa's are RIDICULOUSLY FAST! I wouldn't recomend one of those.

To Stockboy85: Those Monsters are real cool. Awesome bikes.

lol, yes Malaysian drivers are crazy!

Heck, almost all drivers in Asia are crazy :)

I love my bike, I just don't get a lot of time to ride it. I keep it at my house in Austin because I don't have a storage area for it here at my condo in Houston. I purchased it new in March of last year and have put less than 250 miles on the thing.

Good tip on the Honda Rebel, Zac. I'll be getting my motorcycle's license probably in the fall, so I'd be wanting a starter bike. I'd love a Ducati 999, Ducati 1098, or a Hayabusa one day, but those will be out of my league for a while to come.

I have what I think is a 99' Ducati Supersport 775 (????) sitting in my garage. Don't know exactly, it's my brother's bike squatting at my place while he is away for 3 years at law school.

Yamaha XJR 1300SP.

Some impressive bike if I may say so myself. Lovely to ride, friendly to the driver if you know what you're doing. Wouldn't advise it to a rookie though. 0 -> 100 (kph) in first gear in less than a handful of seconds is fun, very much fun!!! Good for the adrenaline level and some big smiles on your face.

This pic is an example, it is of now that I realise I don't even have a pic of the real thing... ahum not bad after 5 years...

I drove a SUZUKI INTRUDER 1400 until I sold it last year. Insurance here is crazy. I now have fun with my 2006 CAN-AM OUTLANDER XT. Very fun off road toy.

So true Zac. At my learners class, everyone was given a Rebel 250cc for the field training. Great bike to start on, but quickly outgrown. I grabbed an '86 Rebel 450cc to start, which I still have (but need a new battery....again, due to winter storage). I hope to get something a little bigger, but still maneuverable. My dad has gone through a lot. My brother got a rebel 250cc and my dad a Shadow 500cc. Those both are gone and my dad got a Kawasaki Drifter, which is a psuedo-Indian replica. Then a Route 66 edition Rebel (I think), and two Ninja's. I'm not too crazy about sport bikes.

Bike when I bought it:

Took the whole thing apart and cleaned it. Special bonus for not having parts left over. Repainted it too.

Oh yeah forgot about this one. Took the back end of a Honda automatic scooter-type and the front end of a Suzuki something. Granted it'll never be street legal, but it looks interesting.

Thanks for the Honda Rebel tip, Zac! Unfortunately, Honda doesn't seem to have any of those for sale here in Australia. I wonder if their VTR250 is okay instead?

The VTR is acceptable as far as power goes. Not enough to get you into big trouble. But, if you do fall over, it does have expensive to replace plastic.

A VTR250 would be suitable as well.
