Ok... Seems as if Oakley has quit monitoring altogether - display stuff, fakes... all of it. And this should probably be in the "Fakes" thread, but.....I'm trying to draw attention and support.

Personally - I preferred it when it was policed but I am sick to death of the mass of fake shit and BS auctions that have recently slammed ebay. For those of us with no local access - this has been our source for the Oakley of old - that which we cherish.

There was talk, years ago, of an O - Coalition.... While I am not reprising that - I am sick of the pages of fakes and scams that I have to get through on my Oakley searches....

The average "Joe" is getting screwed and I think we can make a difference.

What is the address of the fraud department for ebay and how can we start hammering these BS scammers to keep them off ebay?

As much as we all scour ebay - this should be an easy and worthwhile task for us.

Anyone with me?

I figure if we hammer the scammers and fakes - we can do that successfully without bringing attention to the display stuff for those of you that wanna pay 3x as much as it's worth. I have no issues with the display stuff (believe me) - just sick of all the BS fake auctions...

I figure ebay getting tons of emails from (us) ebayers about specific fake auctions should garner some attention....

I admit I haven't followed thie "fakes on ebay thread" so if this all covered and discussed - my bad.....Just a rant for me then....

whenever i see one i use the 'tell a friend' link on the auction page and forward it to info@oakley.com or/and infouk@oakley.com

i got a couple of thankyou replies too, so i guess they do make a small effort.

It sure is, wanted to respond before but before I forget:

There were talks, even before I joined, of the Collective I think it was called, I know Dann is busy as hell right now, so if other senior members want to get this thing rolling, maybe we could have a good impact on people who are (or not) members here by helping them.

Theres way to many BS right now on Ebay, and it seems like not a lot has been done.

It was called the Coalition... It never came to fruition at the time but I can clearly see a need for it now.

I'll try to dig it up - I even wrote a credo but it encompassed more than it should at the time... And I was fairly new in my membership.

If you O Warriors are interested in stepping up - we are open to actually starting up the Coalition I think...

This fake stuff is out of hand and I think it annoys/angers all of us.... WE are the premeir and only experts on Oakley for ebay - we should use that power for the good of the general public. The uneducated and the general buyer should be able to get a great buy without being scammed.

If you guys and girls are interested in putting effort into something like that - let me, or us know. Who combs ebay for Oakley more than us?

The Coalition.

This was the original idea...

O - Review Coalition

The O-Review Coalition – hereby referred to as the “Coalition” was formed to further not only the enjoyment of Oakley Sunglasses and related Products but to help protect Collectors, both experienced and new, from the many imitation products on the market. It is our goal to inform and protect the potential user and/or collector of possible inferior products claiming to be “Authentic” Oakley products while actually being substandard imitations attempting to capitalize on a Leader in the market and taking advantage of a consumer’s inexperience.

As this Coalition has been initiated from the creation of the O-Review Website – it is vital that in the “spirit” of the Coalition be maintained in all transactions where the Coalition name has been represented – both between existing site members and externally on auction sites and individual exchanges. While our focus is on the authenticity of a product, we expect the transaction itself to be held to a high moral and trustworthy code.

Sellers are encouraged to utilize the Coalition Insignia on their auctions as a guarantee of authenticity – providing it is utilized with the utmost moral code as it is our goal for the Coalition to be viewed as unquestionably trustworthy and a solid name beside Oakley itself conducted in a similar manner as a source of knowledge and respect.

Buyers will be encouraged to feel comfortable that anything purchased with the Coalition Insignia, will have confidence in the knowledge that they are getting an authentic Oakley product and the transaction will be handle in the utmost professional manner.

It is our goal to prevent and end any auction or sale of fake Oakley products that is brought to the attention of the Coalition. This will be done through emails to both buyers and sellers, VERO and the Auction/Sales Site in a reputable manner. We will also strive, to the best of our ability, to authenticate Oakley’s through evidence produced by buyers and sellers to our extensive collective of Commission experts in Oakley and its products.

Any issues brought forth between O-Review Coalition buyers and sellers will be reviewed by the Coalition Commission and a decision will be passed. It is vital that parties involved must be willing to follow the Commission recommendations prior to submittal for continued involvement with the Coalition.

It is also the intention of the Coalition to maintain a database of known Sellers, both positive and negative, for review of any potential Buyers. This list will be based on the experiences of Buyer’s through which the Coalition receives feedback and any issues will be subject to the Coalition Commission.

It is important to recognize that the O-Review and the Coalition have no direct affiliation with Oakley itself. This is merely and exercise in education, enjoyment and protection from the many world wide collectors and experts of Oakley products.

I want to help. Let me know how I can help because we need to rid eBay of these pieces of sh"t scammers who are ripping people off. eBay won't do it, so we need to. I am also sick of these faceless identities who hide behind a computer profile and rip us off. I picture them to be small weak individuals who need nothing more than to have thier arse kicked over a 2 day period......then beaten some more.

use a cc when paying via paypal. Fraud protection. I got scammed 3 times over the past year, ALWAYS got every penny back...

I know ebay should not be like that, but this personally won't keep me from bidding on stuff...I'm not justifying it at all, I'm just pointing out how you can protect yourself against those scum bags!

I know this has been mentioned somewhere else, but one thing we can (and some already) do is open up fake ebay ID's and bid on all the scam auctions (especially the BIN ones). It is fun to do (so I've heard ;-) ) and will hopefully make these scammers grow weary and tired of trying to rip people off. Just my $0.02.

okay... i'm getting sick off all this fake Oakley sh*t on Ebay as well. too many of us have been hit by fake items advertised as genuine on Ebay, and the increase of hacked accounts too (which Ebay doesn't seem to care about, just as long as they're getting their cut). so in whatever way i can help, count me in.

i do like the idea of the "Coalition" branded Ebay sale and whatnot (like an O-Review seal of approval), and a database of good and bad sellers. seems like a handy resource for us to have.

Well it's time to get it started then. Here's a work in progress that I hope to expand, but we may as well give it a shot.

http://www.o-review.com/coalition.asp

If you have an ebay store or sell from time to time, just send me a link to your ebay id and I'll check it out and then add you. Basically copy that code into your ebay auction and it will link back to the Coalition page, were your identity will be verified.

Excellent work. Let us bow our heads and prey that one day the Coalition will bathe in the blood of the infidel non-(Oakley)believers.

I like this. Very awesome idea.
Just don't forget, guys. When using the image, tell sellers to click on the image so they can see that you are in fact a verified seller.
One day we'll have eBay policed properly. Too bad none of us will get a cent for it.

Once this get's fully underway - we need to send this stuff to Huney and Total-O and see if they wanna partake. It would only protect them against someone calling "fake"...

I am all for this idea but I am concerned about the execution and possible legal ramifications. I am not a lawyer and don't pretend to be. My limited exposure to the law and corporations was just enough to show me that I wanted to avoid any and all exposure in the future.

My concern is this. What about sellers who sell custom cut lenses or custom made lenses? If we bring more attention to them from a site like this I'm afraid it will make them a bigger blip on Oakley legal's radar screen if they're not already. It might not be a big deal and Oakley might not even care. All I'm saying is that is makes my "Spidey" sense tingle if you will.

Like I said, when corporate lawyers get involved things get complicated FAST and I would hate to see anyone from this site caught in the middle.

Just my two cents.

I've dealt with them before, and we usually work things out before it becomes an issue.
