My head is too big to wear Juliets. So, as far as X Metals go, I have to choose between R2 and X Metal XX. I think they're both great and everything, but the XX's colorways are limited and the R2's are mostly bland. I just read on a different thread that the new x metal is going to be for smaller faces, so isn't it about time for Oakley to expand the R2 and XX colorways? They never even came out with a polarized XX. The plasma/ice is discontinued and seemingly pretty impossible to get ahold of. All the while, juliet/penny owners get to wear their ruby, ichiro sig, copper, ducati, copper, and even custom 24k/24ks.

I realize I'm relatively alone when saying all this, but what do you guys think?

I do love the current R2 colors, but agree that more variety is needed. And the limited Ruby and Emerald R2s that huneymonkey has had on eBay seems to have stopped.
Not so high on the X Metal XX.

I'm pretty sure that the XX is on the end of its lifespan, and most of the X-Metals have never come in a polarized version.

If you all remember R1 only came a 3 colorways. I wonder if this is intentional on the Romeo line.

I always thought a polished gold R2 would look good

R2 definitely gotta have more color options than they have now since the lenses are near impossible to cut ourselves lol!

don't the half jacket lenses fit, i'm sure there was a thread about it somewhere a while back, they come in just about every color going.

The lenses fit, but the end result is just shy of ridiculous.

The HJ lenses do fit in the R2. But in my opinion, they just don't look quite right.

I agree hey don't look quite right and for me at least its not the same looking through them either. There is a LOT of light leakage around the edge of the lens and its very distracting.

I love my Carbon/Fire R2, they are definitely not bland.

Brown/Tungsten would be interesting...

Did O come out with all of their Juliet colorways at the same time or did they release new colorways as the years went on?

Thomas, I know; I totally agree. The Scelzis are exactly the kind of thing I would want them to start/keep producing. But they're done with those, and I haven't heard any rumors about the R2 at all.

Justin, they came out with them as years went on. It was X-Metal/Black first, then they introduced Titanium/Gold Iridum and X-Metal/Gold Iridium. The plasma frames (Ice and Fire) popped up early 2000 after a site redesign, from what I can remember.

As with any other frame, the more they sell, the more colourways they will subsequently release. Just look at Minute and XX.

Thanks Greg.

So I guess the lack of colorways are due to poor sales. I mean, the PP on these were pretty high, so I can understand it. I mean, Oakley went to town on the colorways for the minute and XX.

I hope the new X-Metals don't cost nearly as much as the R2's did when they came out.

hey, dont call them just shy of ridiculous :-(. One of my favs is my carbon R2 with a vr28 blue polarized lol! HJ lenses fit but the fluidity of the lens is broke cause of all the corners on the HJ lenses. Personally, I dont mind them that much
