None of the serials on mine match either. I was told that there were only 500 hundred made and 60 of them were alocated to California.10 were at the SF O Store. 5 were at the Santa Cruz event.
David Flores,What a nice guy. Very soft spoken. I gave him a skateboard deck he had painted in the early days. He said it was when he first discovered his style and his trade mark icon Sig. He was surprised to see one in perfect condition. Most of them were used by the skateboarders who bought. The look on his face was priceless.

David Flores Tour Stop #2
Santa Cruz, CA - 3/21/07
The sleepy art and surf town of Santa Cruz, California came alive to welcome David Flores and his new limited edition signature sunglass piece.

Pacific Wave gave free rain to the Oakley crew to showcase David’s artwork, while offering plenty to eat and drink with DJ Pres backing it all up.

The high point of the evening occurred when one of David’s die-hard fans arrived with an original hand painted skate deck from earlier in his career. And through some clever wheeling and dealing the piece was retrieved and added back to David’s insane collection.

Check out the photos below from Santa Cruz – see you in Los Angeles.

Very cool story, weird that the serials dont match but not a big deal for most of the members I think.

Yeah, cool story. Looks like a fun event. I hope they got some O eyewear on that DJ Pres guy, from the pics it doesn't look like it.

('free rain'? Someone tell Oakley I'll do some freelance spell checking for cheap)

Yeah Mike that was me. I was going to get the piece signed and then grab a couple of the glasses and be on my way. I showed him the board and the guy just had a look of history all over his face. I wanted to give it to right then and there, but my wife thought that I would insult him. Two more times I talked to him and both times I felt the same thing, that he really wanted it. Finally he came out and joked about wanting it back. I told my wife and she agreed that he should have it. He was so cool about playing it off. I told him that the piece finally came home, handed it to him, shook his hand and walked out with my wife. It feels so good when you have the opportunity to do something like that for good people.

The story as I was told by the son of the person who's mother bought this and five others, is that this boys mother bought these because she believed in David Flores and wanted to support him. Now you know what kind of person David is. A person who can get a mother to support him in his new style until it took off.

So you see the board was never mine. It belonged to a boy with a vision and someones mother who believed in him. I was just there to bring it home. Thanks to my wonderful wife for giving me the freedom to follow the heart.

Archer, I was told about that lastt night at the Costa Mesa event, but they said he hooked you up with some items in exchange...Was that part true, if so, what did he kick? His stuff is tight big time. He handed me his personal pair of the 1st gen sig pair and they were nice, orange icons and all...The Oakley Rep was the guy who told me that story...

Honestly my first instincts, utimately ended up being my final decision and that was to give him the deck and ask nothing in return. We all have temptations in moments like these, but when you look at a person and see an emotional history manifest itself right in front of you, you lose any expectations and are rewared by the act itself. I know all this may sound kind of hokie, but I got as much out of it in simple connection as I believe David did by having a piece of his history come home. The best way to describe this is to imagine it from Davids perspective; A kid hand painting & selling skateboards, unaware of his future as a known artist. From there you can understand why I didn't have a choice, the deck was his and all I could do was not put doubt in the gift. So I did exactly that, gave him the deck, shook his hand and left. I went to Santa Cruz to grab a couple of Dave Flores Gascans, have the boxes and a couple of promo cards signed, along with the deck. What I left with was the two Gascans I purchased, sigs on the boxes & cards and one of the best moments of my life. There were 4 people there sharing the moment, Sonja (picture taker), David, myself & my wife, all of which were equal parts of the whole. Ultimately, it was my nights "highlight".

cool story. Guess the rep was a bit off, but even better in the end. Nice to make a connection and have a piece of his history like that.

And through some clever wheeling and dealing the piece was retrieved and added back to David’s insane collection.
Oakley's site makes it sound as if after some heavy haggling it was sold back to him for some insane cost.Thats not cool why cant they just say that a loyal fan decided to return the piece to him. Very Very cool of you O-AFX
