hey guys... izzit possible to have custom-made lens for my Penny... i'd like to have Fire Iridium...

According to the 'O distributor' here... they only allow you to change the lens as stated on yer reg card.
Which means i cant get any other lens from them except for my VR28...

FYI, this country doesnt have a specialized Oakley shop.

Yeah thats what the stores here had told me before as well, but if u check the other thread about changing lenses, then apparently it is now possible to change the lens to whatever color is "officially" available. So give Oakley customer service a call, will probably be more reliable than trusting an unofficial distributor :/

Always call Oakley when in doubt. In the past it was the rule, only what lens came in the frame could go back in it. The other thread is proving this may no longer be the case. As far as custom lenses in colors not generally available, it's a no. They would have to cut and coat the lens custom. Unless you buy a 0/0 powered RX lens. That's what usually happens when you see a pair on ebay with lenses not normally available in that style.

Yeah, you can call the Oakley RX department and they can make non-prescription Fire Penny's for you, but it costs about $290 for the frame, then $200 or so for the lens. They also have Emerald as a lens selection, so you could have Emerald Penny's as well. It's pretty cool if you have the money for it :)

If you already have a penny frame you may be able to surrender it to Oakley to have the Rx lenses placed in it instead of purchasing a frame. Or find an ORX dealer in your area and speak with them about getting a 0/0 powered lens in your frame.

hey, the cheapest way is following....just buy a M-Frame fire
vented lens....go to a optician that you know he is good. And he can made fire lenses for your penny´s...that works. I made also my custommade XX x-metal tio2 with red iridium lenses in that way. Sorry for my english guys but I am from Germany so I hope everyone unsterstand me.

that's really interesting... the iridium doesn't chip off or anything? and the curvature is right?

the optics wouldn't be as good because of the different system

The iridium bonds at the molecular level so that say, even though I have some spots where the iridium has come off and are due to scratches.

You right about the lens geometry. Dual lenses are spherical and use XYS optics, the single lens is toric and uses Poleric Elipsoid optics.

Good ol' XYS optics :P

but i'm just wondering if the curvature of M-frame lenses could possibly fit in a penny frame. that seems like the biggest concern

Guess if it's been done before, then maybe.

Don't take any of the availability labels seriously. I haven't had time to update those in a long time.

You might find it in some OPD's or Vaults. Its been discontinued for only about 1/2 a year so you may even get lucky if you call Oakley Direct.

Dual lenses are spherical and use XYS optics, the single lens is toric and uses Poleric Elipsoid optics.
Is it safe to say that for all dual lenses? Is this list accurate? (I know I'm missing some, just looking to see if my methodology's correct)
Spherical XYZ:
O, L & A Frames
Wisdom
Crowbar
Eyeshades & Blades
Zeros
Sub Zeros???
Dartboard?
Dart?

Toric Poleric Elipsoid:
Frogskins
Wires
Anything with distinct lenses
OTT
Medusa?

You have the titles backwards. Spherical is for two lensed glasses not including Gascan and the like, since they're cut from one single elliptical lens.

And as my original post is from 2004, I've since learned that XYS is implemented on all frames, and polaric ellipsoid is long since gone.

Thanks Dann! Maybe better to say that it's cut from a single elliptical lens or 2 spherical lenses.
Adjusted list here:

Single Elipsoid lens:
O, L & A Frames
Wisdom
Crowbar
Eyeshades & Blades
Zeros
Sub Zeros???
Dartboard?
Dart?
Gascan?
Speechless?

Spherical lens:
Frogskins
Wires
Anything with distinct lenses
OTT
Medusa?
