Doing the roo!!!
Nov 29, 2016 2:07 AM
Managed to snag a pair of Half Jacket 2.0 but noticed that the Oakley wording is not across the nose bridge. I believe they were custom built and I thought I remember reading that custom ones don't have it - is that correct?

Thanks very much,
Oak

I don't think that's the case. I've seen pairs coming out of OCP that have the stretch logo on the bridge, but there are some pairs that do not have the logo as well. Off the top of my head, I remember seeing Polished Black frames (from MPH and OCP...no parts number on the frame) and Matte Black (from SI) that do not have the logo. Does your frame have a parts number on it?

Thanks for the reply and details - much appreciated. Not that I can see but I think I have to slide the ear socks off correct?

No, it should be full visible on the left earstem. If it's not readily apparently, you probably don't have a parts number, so it likely came from OCP or MPH.

Hey
I have a few of the buckles also and I have looked for belts to fit. The belt has to be thin. The ones at the stores are just a little too thick for the clamp to lock. you can get the belts online or at the stores without buckles though.

Good luck

I think this might have been discussed before, but what do people do for insurance coverage? Our broker says we need either receipts (no sure I would have ALL of them) or an appraisal - has anyone dealt with this before?

Thank very much.

Appraisals would be tough. Best bet is to record ending auctions on eBay to prove a theoretical replacement value, which given the increased going rate for most things would make the original receipts not on par. I've heard some people state that the insurance agency went on the sunglasses hut site and found similar looking pairs and used that as a baseline THEN depreciated them for time assuming they were old used glasses by then and not worth 100% of retail.

Also at the bottom of the collection tracker page, there is a link to export to a spreadsheet. That should help with organization.

Yeah, I had a feeling that EBay might be a good place to get at least a rough value - then again i might scare myself.
Thanks also for the note about the export - think I might have to do that regularly and store it in a safe place.
Thanks again.

I've had a couple conversations with my Insurance over the years on this. Each time I walk away with nothing to do. The sunglass collection really didn't qualify for an official appraisal, as it wasn't considered 'fine art' or along those lines. Essentially, I was told each time that they would be covered under my existing homeowners coverage. Having pictures and lists like Dann mentioned would be key to show proof of ownership. But I imagine they would just use replacement value of same/like pairs to determine reimbursement.

Yeah, even explaining to our agent that I had sunglasses worth X amount of dollars made her question my mental state. Agreed that it might be hard to get it valued like art or wine. Might be best to document as much as possible and go from there.

Aim for the replacement value. I know Jason, the guy who hosts this site, was able to get proper reimbursement for some stolen ichiros in a backpack
