Saw the trailer before Star Trek in IMAX this weekend. Awesome. I was never into the toys or the cartoons and didn't see the first one in the theater, but watched it when it came out on HD DVD and kicked myself the whole time for not going to the theater. Fandango will have my money very soon for the first Friday morning showing of it in IMAX since it will be offered in that format.
I loved it, I did have a few issues though, not to spoil too much for those who haven't seen it yet, the whole "I've just come around and hey, the matrix is here" thing was a bit "WTF?" and Mudflap and Skids are just comedy stereotypes that don't really mesh with the film (they are funny though)
I have to tell you, we all loved it. I was in a group of 10 that didn't leave the theatre until 1:30 this morning...and it was worth it. The acting wasn't the best, but the action was great, and the stories are somewhat consistant with the basics of the original cartoon. I was glad to see the matrix make an appearance.
Saw the movie today. A lot of action, I liked the first movie and thought they did a good job with this one giving it a more Adult edge to it. I did notice a definite Oakley appearance with an O icon on the top of a helicopter near the beginning of the movie (with a 2 1/2 hour movie it is hard to tell the exact point) it also looked liked the character Major Lennox was wearing a pair of black Factory Pilot gloves and the soldiers might have been wearing S.I. Assault Boots (with all the action it was hard to get a really good look)
The soliders were definitely wearing SI Boots. You can see it on them in some set pics, but it is probably difficult to tell when watching the movie itself. Just like it was with the first film.
