I posted a link for the trailer in the Movie discussion post. I'm still trying to figure out the story line.

my friends and i saw a poster of it when we went to see Superman Returns this weekend, and like you we almost wet ourselves too. then i rushed home and checked on the teaser... it certainly looks intriguing.

Been in the works for nearly six years, I've heard.

Being directed by Michael Bay ( Armageddon, The Rock, Pearl Harbor ) so you can expect brilliant effects that will make you go "whoah!" and a retarded story line that will make you go to throw up afterward.

HA HA! I wonder who Optimus Prime is going to fall in love with. There's got to be some sort of love triangle too.

I read in the Enquirer that he's already been romantically linked to David Arquette.

Did anyone else get the impression from the trailer that the film is more of a "Aaargh! Killer robots are coming!"-type deal than a "Hey, look, big robots fighting each other!" thing?

I mean, it sounds like they're just invading Earth rather than battling Decepticons and crash-landing on Earth in between.

Yeah, that's what it looked like to me. That's why I'm a little aprehensive on this story line. Like well the Transformers even be able to speak english or are they going to be talking in some wierd Mars made up language.

Some people are threatening to not watch the movie because of things like Bumblebee being a Camaro instead of a Beetle. I don't mind though; the Camaro Concept looks hot.

IMHO, any playing around with the characters is too much playing around. If any of the following things happen I will protest outside the damn theater:
-Jazz isn't a Porsche
-Ultra Magnus doesn't get to be in the movie
-there is any screwing around of any kind with the Dinobots (or Predacons)

I already hate that Bumblebee is a new Camaro. Damn shills. There's nothing wrong with the new Beetles and I've wanted to see Bumblebee as one for some time now. Poor Ultra Magnus. I doubt he'll be in this.

I don't really see how they can get around it when Volkswagen doesn't want anything to do with the movie. I do understand though; I'd be slightly miffed if Soundwave is anything but a tape cassette recorder, even if it would look out of place today.

Bumbleebee will be a 1970s Camaro first before he becomes the newer one, though. Maybe the military will blow him up and rebuild him into Goldbug, ala the comics?

Megatron was a tank in Gen 2. Not bad looking and still had a large mounted gun. All thanks to Cobra. Damn crossovers.

That Prime s pretty cool. Is it really test footage? Event eh google link I posted says it's test footage but Sideswipe looks nothing like the Bumblebee movie robot or even that Prime.

It was a while ago, but if I remember right that video of Sideswipe had been denied by the director as being actual footage. I suspect the Prime video is something along the same lines as well.

Still pretty cool though.

Meh. I was/am so not thrilled when I first saw those. Too modern/futuristic anime. They look like the goddamned Spawn robots McFarlane released a while back.

I think they're trying too hard to make the Decepticons look evil and scary. Either way, I'm still going to see how all this goes, because really I think the designs aren't all that bad.

And in other new, Toys R Us has preorders for a reissue of the G1 Soundwave toy up. That was the earliest toy I could ever remember having fun with. SOMEONE HELP ME OUT.

Lame..they don't bear any resemblence to the classics, or what they transform from. Too much japanese wizardry...what exactly is Megatron supposed to be? Shards of crystal like metal...ridiculous.

I am open to interpretation, but have the forsight to know when we've steered too far off course.

Even the toys have gotten ridiculous, and it started back when they introduced the beast wars series Transformers.

Why don't we invent a horse transformer, so we can get together and beat it!
