OK folks, time for another "get creative" thread.

Unless all the Oakley reps are lying (doubt it), the next-generation Romeo is indeed alive and will be released in early 2005.

That said, I'm sure we are all curious as to what it will look like, what features it will include, even what the official name will be. What are everyone's thoughts?

Here are my predictions:
- Romeo 2.0 will be the name, following the precedent set on other product lines
- Lenses will more rectangular rather than oval
- Frame size will be somewhat smaller than Romeo to fit a wider range of head sizes/shapes
- Flex couplers will be at the nose bridge like the other X-Metals (no more cracking lenses!)
- T-shocks will still be part of the design rather than spring hinges
- Frame will be more angular to contrast the smooth, flowing design of Juliet
- More frame/lens options will be available like Juliet

All you artistically inclined folk: feel free to draw/Photoshop your ideas and share them here.

Have fun!

I would almost be inclined to say they will use Spring Hinges. Definitely smaller and more squared lenses though.

Now I need to wait and decide if I want this or the Hatchet for x-mas.

Okay:
- spring hinges
- an Icon will be prominent, whether inset or sculpted
- sculptural unobtanium like the Half Jacket, so new stems (neither hammer nor traditional straight)
- the same eyebrow sculpt that is on the Valve and Mag Switch
- the nosebrige will have Flex Couplers attached to two halves of the original X (maybe I'll produce a drawing later)

Have been told it will be a cross between a hatchet and the dartboard as far as the lenses. Im awaiting a sketch or launch photo. Also, my release date was Dec. 1, 2004. I hope i get it then. Will let you guys know when i get my hands on one!

I thought it was coming out this December?

Im seeing, the same sort of Romeo shape as the originals but they are slighlty smaller and made out of O-Luminum.
I wish I could draw them to show you guys but the pic is stuck in my head lol.

Iunno, I think the Romeo II will be kept in X-metal. Not sure why, but I keep visualizing the Romeo II to be in the style of a Half-frame, with spring hinges.

Ok - here are the minor changes my ability and software (coupled with laziness) allowed me to make - of course, I expect the R2 to be much different than this sketch:

Someone said it above, having orbitals more like the Splice or even the Monster Dog is what I'm leaning towards. I did just grabbed the holiday catalog and no go in there. It'll be interesting to see if actually starts to show up on December 1.

Like you've all been saying the Half Frame would be the way to go, just look at the popularity of the Half-Jacket, incorporating this into a new X-Metal is a possibility.

i just don't think the x-metal styling would look good with a half frame...

i believe there will be spring hinges, but i don't think the icon will be as prominent as someone said. more so than pennies, for sure, but probably about as prominent as it is on juliets. they traditionally havne't made a big deal out of the icons on x-metals. you just have to know.

i'm sure it'll be x-metal rather than o-luminum, otherwise they wouldn't call it romeo

i think the styling will be along the hatchet/splice line, or at least i hope so

something to think about is why it will be romeo II and not juliet II... i don't think they would keep the lens size or shape of romeo I, so they'll probably hang onto the *look* of the flex coupler if not the disfunctionality of it. so it'll be a larger nose bridge X than in juliet, but not directly against the lens. i'd say the lens size/shape will be about like splice or hatchet, with similar aggressive browline

I'd say no against the half frame, because there'd be no way to insert the lens. The half jacket flexes to get it in, and the other x-metals either screw together around the lens, or are pinned.

I would say yes to the half (jacket) frame concept. Those would look pretty HOT! I would think. I only hope they have more than one color combo when they hit. Ill buy em!

how can you guys really discount the feasability of a half-rim frame? The half-wire has it. The Mag M-Frame even has interchangable lenses. why would it be so hard to imagine this kind of feature in an X-Metal, as they are Oakley's flagship line?

There could definitely be a half-X-Metal frame, just put the connector up top; I too think it would be cool. I doubt Romeo2 will be half tho.

I dig the half frame idea, too, but I doubt we'll see it on Romeo 2.0. Perhaps we'll see a whole new model with this concept? One can dream...

Why would you guys want an X-metal Half jacket?
the Half jacket and XLJ are already perfect, light weight, comfortable and great for sport, why take focus away from the half jacket and XLJ by creating an X-metal just like it.

I for one hope oakley DONT make the Romeo II a half frame.

I love my HJ, but it's not what I would consider classy. But I like to change the lenses a lot; As we tell the tourists "if you don't like the weather, wait five minutes". So, a dressier frame with interchangable lenses would be cool. I'd hate to have to take apart an X-Metal frame all the time to swap lenses.

I didn't have an X-Metal Half Jacket in mind per se. Just a half frame design like Half Wire. I was thinking more along the lines of replaceable lenses (i.e. like the current X-Metals) rather than quick swap lenses (i.e. Half Jacket and M-frame).
