Thats A 180SX, If Its JDM, it comes with a 1.8 DOHC I4 (CA18DE) a Common and Popular swap is the SR20DET, a Turbo Four cylnder from the Turbo Silvia, Hell sometimes they put the whole entire front end (non-pop up lights) on the 180SX colloquially known as the Sil-eighty. Now-a-days here in America with the drifting fad, people are doing all kinds of crazy motorswaps, everything from a 3.5 Nissan V6 all the way to 7.0 LS7 from a Zo6

Blimey !!
Didnt expect to get such an interest !! lol
It is indeed a 180sx from Japan, they only came with a 1.8 CA18det turbo four cylinder very very briefly for the first couple of years and were then standard fit with the SR20det engine from about 1991 until 1998, still being made even when they swapped from the S13 bodyshape to the S14.

Here in the UK the car was ironically called the 200sx even though it was only ever offered here with the CA18 engine meaning its often confusing talking about them here as two almost identical cars are a 180sx from japan with a 2.0 engine or a 200sx from UK with a 1.8 engine !!

In the US they were fitted with the KA2.4 truck engine and were properly labelled 240SX although I understand this engine not to be so condusive to tuning, although I think some guys have done quite a bit with that engine.

My car is a 1994 I think and I imported it with my friend 10 years ago so I could use it for drifting. It was one of the first genuine drift cars imported here to the UK with a known history of street and circuit events and is quite famous over here. I also setup one of the largest car shows and Drift events here in the UK and the car was featured in lots of magazines over the years doing demos at car shows all over the UK and Europe promoting that and for my sponsors - Yokohama in particular.

It is almost totally non standard now, I think the roof and some of the dash and the windscreen are original and thats about it !!

It only runs about 500bhp at the moment but its a fully forged engine with some very special mods to the head (a weakspot on the SR) so its ready to handle about 850 before I need to maybe change to a dry sump just to be safe.

Other mods include gearbox conversion as stock boxes go soft above 400, all the suspension obviously, carbon fibre propshaft, widearch kit, all brakes replaced and upgraded - 6 pot radial fronts, special cage that strengthens the shell but is as light as can be, fire system etc etc

I guess its swallowed 40k of my money and the same again from sponsors and the garage that built it.

When I am well enough to drive it again I'll get a new turbo and a N2O system to help with spool and maybe turn it up to 700bhp and have some fun, its geared for 210+mph and will hit that easy, it would murder a Veyron to 160mph as it only weighs 1040kgs, assuming it would get traction.

Hope that gives you guys some useful info.

Always a classic
Personally I don't like the way the wheels are exposed out that wide but with everything it's each to their own
Unusual colour though

trying to keep the type r on the DL to many thevies out there but i got somthing for there asses iv got 5 kill switches electrical , fuel , etc :located in 5 different places they will need a tow truck to move it muahahhaa or they will have to take it apart on the spot , good luck i got my AR-15 at the ready , and i dont miss yall all in all shes a great little car only issue i have with it is is that due to the type r gear ratio 5 gear 70 mph is lik 3900 rpms so distance driveing is out of the question

BTW

Go for it,

I have had more fun times at car shows than I can remember !!

I used to get invited and paid to attend events in mainland europe when I had the GTR as they used to be illegal over there. Great times getting police escorts through Amsterdam !!

Happy days....

....me in the pikey jacket driving the £200k dual GTR combo transit pikeybus, my mates GTR as well, my orange car in its old colours just visible all en route to the Rai in Amsterdam.

My pal had only just bought the Top Secret car - had it like a week or so from memory !! He owned the Jun SuperLemon at the time as well and let me steal them cos my GTR was unavailable for the event.

As for Hondas..........one day I will get a wide-arched turbo'd NSX but that day is a long ways away at the moment !!
