LOL... Phil, such a bad influence you are! and getting it stuck on Japanese is not too uncommon, i've done that on my first iPod the very first day too.

problem is, i can't use the Nano as a simple jump drive like i can with the Shuffle. but i have to admit that black Nano is uber sexy, and it's been really hard to resist.

I THink I'd rather just grab a jump drive, and I've been wanting to for a year now and haven't yet. This machine, no, work of art will just be for music. Man, I got it up an running last night and it's so freakin smooth.

I just got 2 of them. I love them. I havent gotten to player around with them yet, but i have one for the office and one for the laptop bag. I always end up forgetting it if i dont have it already in the laptop bag. Either i leave it at home or at the office. Now im set.

I'd jsut as soon buy some odd keychain ring case for mine. It'll always be with me. Icarried my larger Archos around everywhere and that was a chore but this, this is cake. Now if the 3rd parties will only start rolling out some nice accessories/cases for them so I don;t ding it up int eh next few days already.

Arrrgh.... do I buy this or a 20 gig U2 photo? I mean the price difference between the two makes the 20 gig U2 ed. look like such a good deal but... its not nano siiiiized =(

On second thought though, the small size might make it a bitch to navigate around the menus with... I think I need to try it first.

You know, I think I'll get both the 20gig U2 and the black 4gig nano. I'm feeling wealthy today.

I wrote down all the input and output specs for the Thump Charger but Apple doesn't list the input/output specs on the box for their USB charger for me to compare the two without buying the Apple charger. I wouldn't just try blindly, not without the info matching up.

Here's the Thumps, anyone already own teh Apple USB Wall Charger.

Here's what it says on the box:

Input 100-240AV 50-60Hz
Output 5VDC 2.5W

What's actually listed on the charger itslef though has a bit more to it.

Thump chargers should work I think. The specs is in the back of the Nano. They both plug in the back of any USB so technically it should work

my Gf just got one, it is the most ridiculously small thing i have ever seen, how they cram 4gb in there i dont know, now my 4gb mini looks massive in comparison.

I did buy the ipod usb charger and I checked the specs on both, the input was identical but the outputs were different. I know you would think they're both mimicing usb 2.0 charging from a computer but I say try it at your own risk.

WOW... the new iPod is released. smaller, thinner, and plays videos too... 30GB for $299, 60GB for $399. am i glad i held out on the Nano? yup. is it time to replace my trustworthy 2nd generation 10GB? mmmaybe...

http://www.apple.com/ipod/ipod.html

early accounts have it that it sounds better than the Shuffle, with the same sonic characteristics. many audiophiles agree that the Shuffle sounds better than every other iPod released, sans this new one and the Nano. very tempting!

I want a nano but, is it just me or do they look fragile and I am clumsy

Also what videos will it support bet it isn't WMA

buy them for $1.99 each, sync them to your iPod and take them anywhere.Or purchase ad-free episodes of your favorite ABC or Disney television shows and watch them on the go.

also i pay for TV as is why do i have to pay for it again?

I still love my Nano but I'd buy another iPod eventually. Are these new ones Flash based memory as well? There just somehting about not needing to choose from thousands of songs that makes my day a littl eeasier with the Nano just yet, but the vid feature is pretty cool.

because tv shows are copyrighted too. and you don't need to pay for ABC.

phil, they're not flash based, but the pricepoint for the 30gb is only $40 more than the 4gb nano. and since I'm a student, everything is $30 less.

I went to ilounge.com to read up on it and they say to make them that thin they had to sacrifice battery size cutting each one down by an hour or so instead of increasing it. Yeah, $40-50 more then the Nnao for a larger pod isn't a bad deal but Nano is almost exactly what I wanted size an capacity wise. I doubt Nano will be first. I'll just watch as see what's next.

The battery life on the new iPod does seem pretty poor - 2 hours of movie playback! Plus it seems like it's going to be a right hassle to convert DVDs to movies viewable on an iPod.

If they make a Nano with, say, 10gb, then I think I'll have found the ultimate replacement for my 4gb Mini. If and when it dies, that is.

I figured we'd see a 6 and 8gb Nano sooner than later to replace the initial 2. And yes, I'd bet on a 10, but then you have to ask where to draw the line to separate the two styles. Do you think they'll attempt to do away with HDs altogether and try and go all flash in teh future?

It'd be nice. I'd settle for an 8gb anyday. It would give me plenty of growing room.
