Charles WTF man - Thats over $8000 let me say it again $8000. Dude you previous high bid oif $348.49 was way to much for that Display, Charles retract your bid mate thats crazy!
My single tower cost $300US, and I have a smaller one on the way for a lot less.
oh I get it. He's counting on VERO to pull the auction. But what if the seller "ends the auction early to the highest bidder" (since it's 20 times the reserve price.) This will still be a binding contract.
The item in the auction doesn't adhere to the terms and condition's for selling on eBay so even if the auction was to be ended all he would have to do is send VERO an email with the auction link and they will delete it and make the contract null.
Talked to the seller via phone and he asked can it possibly be worth that much? I said no and explained the auction will be pulled and explained why. We have come to terms for a deal and I am going to buy it from him soon as eBay pulls it.
I JUST REALLY WANT A OAKLEY WATCH DISPLAY...since anyone can get these bigger display cases!
just kidding...it was one of those things that i wanted the display case and i was seeing how high the other guy bid on it. i eventually was bidding very quickly and type 24979 instead of 249.79
i would not have even paid 249.79 because that is what the 3 feet ones go for with shipping. i had every intention that vero would pull it anyway so that is why i did not retract. however, it was one of those things that i was talking to someone and all of a sudden i messed up and didn't put the decimal in. i knew right when i submitted my bid that i made the mistake and fortunately, i love vero for this transacton. anyway, i hope that clarifies things...this will definitely not happen again because i can't afford a case that expensive.
p.s. vero personally wrote me an e-mail back saying that it was illegal to bid on these things...
oh...i forgot to say the funniest thing. i also got an e-mail from the seller this morning(i asked what he would do a buy it now for) and he said he would still like to sell it so e-mailed him back asking how much he wanted.
he offered 8,000 dollars...i forgot to tellhim that is more than all my collection retail! i got a kick out of that e-mail...
What I don't understand is that ebay does proxy bidding. Meaning, it shouldn't matter how much you bid. The ebay system automatically bids the lowest available bid until someone outbids it then the system instantly outbids that bidder & so on & so forth until the price exceeds your maximum desired bid. So why did it put all of his bid up right away & why didn't it match what he claims he mistyped?
