they make a big deal out of its flexibility - it's not bendy or anything, is it??

Think flexy as in Why 3 or Thread earstems as opposed to the super-rigid traditional C5 or X-Metal frames. The nose bridge/orbital area is still stiff. You get the soft tension of a spring hinge without needing a spring hinge.

It's not flexible at all, really.. just not rigid enough to put pressure on your head. The lens is shaped just like an A-Wire with slightly sharper corners, but a little bigger... think Halfwire XL vs. Halfwire.

I saw these today in person an I wasn;t overly impressed by it. I personally like the bulk in the stems compared to how thin these were. Now Crosshair, that was sweet.

i tried it in person today as well... i though i would really like these frames, but after seeing it in person, i just kinda liked it. i think i'll stick with the A-Wire.

weird thing about it was instead of "Whisker," the inside earstem had the name "Thinwire."

My wife and I were "allowed" to sample the Whisker and the Crosshair at the Tokyo Oakley lobby store on Friday. They are not slated to hit the shelves here in Japan for another month or so. I thought they were both pretty cool. I think I preferred the Crosshair over the Whisker. I think the Whisker has so much in common with the other Wire Family glasses that it will not rock anyone's world, but it is a nicely put together model. We are going to Hawaii in a few weeks and I think we will be paying a little visit to the O-Store in Ala Moana.

Hmm, not bad, but looks just like an updated A wire, I prefer the chunkier frames anyway like the juliet and hatchet, they shout "Oakley, mofo!", whereas these sort of whimper "erm I'm an updated A wire, sort of, ahem..."

I believe someone mentioned in another thread that the working name for Whisker was "Thinwire".

A similar thing happened with the Wiretap. There are some floating around (I think mainly RX versions) that have "Hay Wire" on the inside of the earstem. The story I've heard is that Hay Wire sounded too much like A Wire, so they changed it.

Not to mention "Haywire" was a cheese-metal band in Canada during the 80's! Am I right x-metalman?

Yeah, they were big in Canada in the 80's and early 90's. Couldn't break the US market, though. I just found this too. They have a comeback site, where if you want, you can book the band to play. How cheesy is that?

I know this isn't Oakley, but it's kinda funny if you go through the site.
