Hey guys. It's been a while.

After picking up a pair of chop top 2.0 in January 2007 it looks like my prescription needs a refresh.

To be blunt, I pretty much hate the square plastic crap that is being churned out at the moment. I need a new RX frame but would like something that reminds me of the good old days around the time of the a wire 2.0 and square wire 2.0. Closest I can find at the moment is the RX whisker. Does anyone have any recommendations or should I just get a pair of o-wires from eBay?

Thanks in advance!

Do you like the TinFoil/TinCan look. Someone in another thread recently suggested the TinCup, which is basically the Rx version of the sunglasses. The new hinge is the main draw since it (theoretically) won't wear out or loosen over time.

If you can hunt down a Ballista, that's another good frame, but could be pricey.

I think you can still find the Overlord frame around. I remember Oak being excited about it - so it must be cool!

I picked up an Rx Wiretap recently on the 'bay.
There's a pewter Rx there now.
I'm using vintage Straightline 4.0 readers to type this...

Not sure what would remind you of "the old days" when it comes to ophthalmic frames, but the Overlord as Paul mentioned is a good one if you're looking for P3 styling. So would the Madman Rx if you can find it. For half frames, I'm liking the Ballista and the upcoming Lizard. For full frames, and while I don't know if it's been discontinued or not, the Coilover is one I've always had in contention.

Other than that if good old days = more wrap, and if you like any sunglass frame, you can take that and put Rx lenses into it.

How about the Carbon Plate or Metal Plate? Those two have caught my eye. When I have the money and find one, it's always the wrong size. So, I just end up buying more sunglasses. Go figure.

I actually have both Overlord and Ballista. Overlord is an awesome frame - the aesthetics and designs cues, to me, made it a must have. It does run a little small on me though. Not so much so that I can't or don't wear it. Just a head's up because I feel that I have a fairly average face and they are a bit tight. The Ballista is one of my all time favorites. Love the ear-stems. The fit to me is pretty much spot on with the 53.

I've got my eyes on the upcoming Lizard as well.

Before they had the RX line of glasses, I had a pair of the stylish OO made into presciption clear frames. When I went through Lasik in 2002, I sent them to Oakley and had them converted to regular sunglasses.

A lot of the "hard to find" RX frames are still available from the lab. They even had Orokr Pro available at the end of 2013.

You have to place an order through either your local O (if they have an Optician), or through an Oakley Authorized Optical Center.

Ive had a bunch of O RX frames over the years, and most recently got the Plank. I love em!
