Has there ever been a discussion about how/why they created the splatter M frames?

1)How was the process created
2)Are each frame unique?
3)Looks like there are 4 frames in the set, were there any more colors out there in prototype?

Each is unique indeed. There has also been a green splatter edition (that's the one I have).

There were four official colors, but due to the hand painted production, a great deal of variability exists.

I actually have two pairs of Splatter Pink and splatter purple! Of course can confirm that any of these are different even very different.

Also, the two Splatter Pink even have a slight difference. The "blue" paint is different. One is more "aqua green" kinda color and the other one is the same blue that appears on the Splatter Grey.

A picture here to show that color difference:

Since they were all hand made, I imagine the only thing they would have in common would be the base color. The splatter could vary on the day or the person applying the finish.

I didn't kow they were hand made. Wow that makes them feel that much more special. I picked up a pair of the purple splatters a couple years ago.

Well even the base colors can be a bit different as you can see on those two Splatter Pink pairs... I remember of a pair of Splatter Grey on ebay a while ago and it actually featured that "aqua green" blue instead of the deep classic blue...

On o-addicts, we discussed whether it was a genuine or fake...

Ah yes! I think so... Just asked you about that one on the other thread... from you set ups pics...

Yes, probably... Is it the other that was on ebay a few weeks ago?

Can you make any close up pic?

It seems genuine but that color way is really not registered anywhere?

ive had it a couple of years and since i recieved mine, i believe jules obtained a pair in the same colourway too.

its not registered so it may be a prototype/athlete release etc.

ill try to sort a close up pic..

There's 4 official, but since a few have popped up of the odd colors, it's hard to say. Oakley did what they felt like back in the day, so you'd get 'experiments' out in the public sometimes.
