I wasn't impressed when they started to peel and I was not impressed when they were replaced with the less-colorful updated version. There is just not much to say about this frame because it is so clear and washed out. It is so obviously a coating that it just looks cheap to me. Compare it to something like a 10W40 and there's really no comparison. This Whiskey is not a premium blend.
Ok frame, I like the Brown fade better (see my review) on the Whiskey, the fade is less noticeable then on the brown fade one.
Peeling and degradation of the color is to be expected, has it is applied on a clear frame.
That frame can be removed off all its paint to get a clear MD, ready for custom :)
It's awesome to see a new, refreshing colorway grace the frames of Oakley shades. Whiskey blends translucent frame elements with a golden-brown hue that stands apart from all others. Unfortunately, it appears that concerns of "flaking" and "chipping" have been confirmed: this is a condition sensitive frame - at least to a degree. It's just a shame that Oakley didn't take the time to ensure proper manufacturing methods, because this colorway would have easily been worthy of a six-skull rating.
Despite horror stories of this frame color chipping or washing away, it is a nice change of pace from the flat blacks and greys. Mine had a sticker on the stem for the price tag, and I noticed some yellow on the sticker once I took it off, but nothing was missing from the frame. A colorway to be careful with.
Nicest of the fade frame options in my opinion. The medium brown goes very well with bronze lenses.
