Frame: Silver
Lens: Fire
These are amazing. I think that the color combo really attracts attention to the fire lens. I am very particular and "anal" about my lenses. I get very bothered by any sort of mark, greasy fingerprint or smudge on my lens, it drives me nuts. The first thing I did was test out the hydrophobic coating on these. I gathered up the courage and against all rational thought in my head let my 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter put thier greasy, grimey fingerprints all over the lens. About 1 minute later I took them back and VERY EASILY wiped them clean. I COULD NOT BELIEVE WHAT I SAW..........NOTHING ON THE LENS!!!
I was amazed. These also have excellent eye coverage to keep out the sun. I am going to buy the XLJ clear replacement lens as soon as it is available. I want the XLJ lens because the standard lens does not come down far enough to offer complete eye protection from small stones on the road when running/biking.
I highly recommend these to anyone who spends any amount of time outdoors and is obsessed with having spot free clean lenses. These are a must!!

Frame: Silver
Lens: Fire Iridium

Wow - Oakley got it right with this one. I have to admit I wasn't impressed with the pics.... The actual frames are awesome. They grip your head in the right place (in the back) and I would have no fear in wearing these in any high speed situation - bike, boat, convertible....jet....whatever. Definitely a pair for the lake. Combine the superior frame design with this new lens and you have a winner! Talk about wearing a fire lens with no fear - wow... No smudging - perfect for the bike or any high speed situation....

Definitely the new generation HJ - and well done. Get these as soon as you can - they are a perfectly done and will take over the HJ space with superior strength.

Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium

Amazing glasses, they bridge the gap between sport specific and fashion. You can use these as your every day shades and not look like a total tool. (unlike M frames) They also work very, very well for shooting and mountain biking. They're small enough to fit comfortably with a helmet or earmuffs. With a plethora of lens tints and two shapes to choose from, I'd consider this the most versatile model of current offerings. If all the aforementioned reasons weren't enough, you also get a permanent hydrophobic coating. (almost a must have for mountain biking)

I've owned many, many models of Oakley sunglasses over the years. I started with the original factor pilot glasses in the 80's and I can say these frames are in my top 3.

To the reviewer who trashed the glasses just because they didn't fit your face, that's not a good reason to give a low rating. Go try them on before you buy next time. (novel concept, I know)

Frame: Carbon Fiber / Polished Root Beer
Lens: G20 / Polarized VR28 Black Iridium

I picked these up this summer to add to my Flak Jacket collection and love the Root Beer frame. It is the closest I could get to Brown Smoke, which is by far my favorite frame option. I'm not sure why people don't seem to like it, but the frame is subtle and the gold icons give it a unique touch. VR28 Black still remains my all time favorite lens option.

The Carbon Fiber frame seemed to have issues. I got these customized as well and the frame seemed to be defective. First of all, the arms didn't fold in correctly which was quite annoying, and they would creak very badly. Also, when folded up, they didn't sit right with the lenses. They would lean forwards and wouldn't sit up right. I do not have this issue with any other Flak Jacket pairs I have (I have 5). G20 is an amazing lens though, but that is a different topic. The carbon fiber is very nice and the polished finish stands out. Aside from the arms, it still is a great frame.

Frame: White Text
Lens: +Red

This is a very nice combination and I love the +Red. The text is printed onto the frame and I hope it will last. Sadly the print is a bit pixelated and not very sharp if you look closely. But overall a very nice shade. I use it mostly for outdoor activities, this combination looks a bit too loud and sporty in the city for my liking.

The free Soft Vault that comes with it is very welcome!

Frame: SI Black
Lens: Grey

Got these for active use while working (firefighter/fire safety inspector). AMAZING pair. My girlfriend also has these. They ability to switch lenses on the fly is great for quick adaptations. The unobtanium is good for those HOT days when you sweat. I have smaller face but they fit pretty darn well!

Frame: White

Hello I have bought Flak Jackets with standard size lenses. Can I swap them for XLJ lenses?

Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium polarized

This is my first pair of Oakleys ever , I had to choose between them and the half jacket and i am glad with the decision that I have made . The Hydrophobic coating is really spectacular and really effective , it keeps the lens clean all the time and almost impossible to get smudged . The frame is so light-weight that you almost feel like if you are not wearing anything . the mirrored lens are so sleek and hip and soo American . All is all , this one deserves 5/5
The Texan -
Frame: Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized

I have two pair of Oakley's and I gotta say that this is an awesome pair , the price is very good if it's not polarized , Though I got the Polarized ones , they're very light and it feels like you are not wearing anything at all , the replacable lens are a huge plus becuase when they break or get worn out which is unlikely providing getle care , you can easily replace them , they are rugged and very appropriate for everyday use , they are classy and elegant and the mirror effect that the have is absolutely amazing , one more positive thing is that they look 100% American and extremely cool , they hydrophobic coating is REAL and it is not an over estimation , they are really easy to clean simply by wiping them with the provided cloth/bag ,
all in all , they are one of the best pairs ever created by Oakley

Frame: Black Chrome
Lens: Tungsten Iridium Polarized

Arguably one of the most attractive frame options available, Black Chrome paired with almost any lens looks amazing. Likewise, Polarized Tungsten lenses are some of the most underrated yet soothing lenses to wear, providing great contrast and excellent protection in a wide range of light conditions - especially bright light. Pair the two and you have one of the greatest combinations ever.

Grab a pair while you still can, because it appears that they have been discontinued.

Frame: Black (livestrong)
Lens: Black Iridium (livestrong)

These are some great glasses, I use them for running or biking and they stay on without any problems. I rarely will need to push them back up. The livestrong edition is Great color, too bad they don't have this in asian fit. The extra nosebombs provided were the same size. I ended up buying a black nosepiece kit just so I can use the larger nosebomb and created my own "asian fit" livestrong flaks

Frame: Team navy blue, Slate earsocks
Lens: HI Yellow

These suit me pretty well, they have about the same fit as the Half Jacket. The hydrophobic lenses are really great.
The earstems with the nice sharp edges in them make these frames just stand out out of the crowd. The shape is a bit more fashion oriented than the Half Jacket, so for me the Half Jacket still is the greatest of both which got 5 stars. But this future classic deserves it's 4 stars really well.

Frame:Jet Black
Lens:Black Iridium Polarized

Really nice set of sunglasses and comes with a nice case. I have a pair of Half Jackets with the same color frames and polarized lenses, but they're not as nice as the Flak Jackets. The ear stems aren't as bulky and the unobtanium ear socks don't start to cirl on the ends like the half jackets. I strongle recommend the polarized lenses too- exellent on the slopes and on the lake. At $195, they are little more costly than some other models but well worth it!

Frame: White Text
Lens: +Red Iridium

Introducing unique frame finishes/colorways such as the White Text/+Red Iridium in the Flak Jacket only makes collecting that much more exciting. As always, the glasses themselves fit very well, accented with unobtainium earsocks and nosepieces and utilizing Oakley's patented three-point fit. Interchangable lenses also allow for further customization of these shades.

Frame: White (MLB edition Phillies)
Lens: Black Iridium

Excellent idea the pairing of Oakley and MLB. Great cleaning bag and the box is awesome. As for fit, the glasses fit great and the subdued- etched P for Phillies is subtle enough to show your a fan, but not too in your face. I'd buy an MLB version just for the bag and case. The quality of the glasses is just a bonus.
Dwcfastrice -
Frame: Powder (blue)
Lens: G30

Swapped the lenses out with +REd XLJ lenses. Swapped out the nose bombs for the larger set that was included. The glasses now fit an Asian face so much better. Depending on your face style, you may not neccesarily have to buy an Asian Fit pair. Great light weight lenses. REmind me of the weight of my old M-Frames. Nice not having a frame blocking my lower peripheral vision. They indeed grip right where they're suppose to. Excellent all around sunglasses for most any activity.

Frame: Polished Black
Lens: Black Iridium Polarized

Much better than the Half Jackets. New frame shape + Better looking lens + hydrophobic = Amazing

I wish that all Oakley lenses had the H2O treatment, or that I could find the treatment for sale anywhere to use on my other glasses.

Far and away, the Water Jackets' smarter, sexier sibling.

Frame: Livestrong
Lens: Black Iridium
These glasses are exactly what I was looking for, I wanted something that I could use on the bike and out sailing and other outdoor activities. Great look and they fit really well. They also grip really well so, exactly what I was looking for and another winner from Oakley.

Frame: Silver
Lens: Fire

I purchased a pair of the silver Flak Jackets with the fire lenses. They looked like a sweet pair of glasses with the hydrophobic lenses. However, after only a month, the silver coating on the back of the arms began to wear off revealing the black plastic underneath. By that point, I could not find my receipt and therefore Oakley told me that they did not consider the glasses to be under warranty any longer. In turn, I would have to pay $30 plus the shipping charges to have the Flak Jackets sent to Oakley to be analyzed. Needless to say, I was not impressed with the quality of these glasses or with Oakley's customer support.

Frame: Livestrong
Lens: Black

I'm more of a fan of the XLJ, but when a unique piece comes out, the function takes a backseat to the design. The bright yellow accents show well against the all black frame. The box again mirrors the color combinations. As others have stated the soft vault is near useless, but a nice addition. I'd rather they not bother and lower the price though.

Frame: Black
Lens: Black Iridium

I was really hoping these were going to fit me as they look great, light weight and really well built.

Sadly because of the fit I have to have them pushed right up against my face and my eyelashes catch too much. If I move them down my nose a little they bounce around. Tried both sets of nose bombs and still no joy.

Make sure you try these well before you buy. If they fit you, then you will have a great pair of glasses!

Frame: Polished White
Lens:Black Iridium

I owned a pair of Half Jackets for a while and I liked them ok. Then I got a pair of Flaks and gave my Half Jackets to a friend. The Flaks are just so much better. They're more comfortable, lighter weight, and you gotta love the hydrophobic lenses!
Fastguy45 -
Frame: Polished Rootbeer
Lens: Gold Iridium Polarized

I love my Flaks, and I think they are superior to the M-frame, HJ, and Radar for sport and military use. I am not in the military, but many of my friends are, so I will echo their opinions if you don't mind:

The hammerstems on the HJ and M-frame are a pain when used with any sort of helmet, because of the straps, and for those of us in the shooting sports, the thickness of the earsocks interferes with ear protective devices. FJ's flat earstems/socks fit much better under earpro and it has no protruding hammerstems either.

Extra Radar and M-frame lenses are large and difficult to carry on the body in a space-economical way. FJ's lenses fit nicely in a small pouch for easy change on the go. HJ are good for this too, but it still has earstem problems.

The FJ is better than the Radar in two other ways - it has breakaway earstems and no flimsy nosepiece. I've sent my M-frame earstems flying on two occasions, and they were only saved by the breakaway feature. Radar has that steel rod through the earstem = something is going to break irretrievably in an accident. Also, I don't buy the durability claims of the Radar nosepiece. It's going to break sometime, and then you're SOL.

Flak has the best features of all these models and I highly recommend them. I just wish Oakley would come out with some better colorways and polarized lens options.

Frame: Lance Armstrong
Lens: Black Iridium

In contrast with the Half Jackets, the Flak Jacket has a more subdued curve to the top of the frame, a less pronounced nose-section (it doesn't bulge as much as the Half Jacket), and straight and flat earstems. The Flaks seem to have better grip than the HJs. The hydrophobic coating on the lenses add to the cost and is certainly a bonus when out jogging in the rain. However,I am not a fan of the colourways newer, perhaps "louder" colourways like the metallic red frame or the blue frame. The Livestrong editions are certainly a must for collectors.

Frame: Plasma
Lens: Fire Iridium
I stumbled upon these sunglasses one day when buying my Half Jackets. After a few days of having my Half Jackets I went into the store to see about getting polarized ice lenses for them when the worker there recommended that I exchange them for the Flak Jackets and I am glad I did.

One reason im glad i got these is because they look allot cooler than the Half Jackets in my opinion and the fire lenses really make you stand out in a crowd. So ya they look cool, What else? How do they perform? Well let me tell you, they perform great! The hydrophobic coating is quite cool. I remember when I first got these I got into my shower with them on. The water just beaded and rolled right off. They began to fog up though so I'd like to see Oakley fix that for the next Flak Jackets. I also tried coloring the lenses red with a marker I found in my drawer, but it didn't work because as soon as I began to rub the lenses with the soft case the marker began to slide right off.The only complaint I have though is that whenever I go to do a EXTREMELY fast turn they tend to fly off my face a good 6 feet away..O! I almost forgot about cleaning them! Ya, I have some crazy d*ckhead friends who find it funny to take these when im not looking and smudge them up as best they can while taking them on an adventure through their pants. I just laugh though because as soon as I get them back After about 30 seconds of wiping they are clean again, and the smell dosent stick to them so I guess thats a plus haha. ( I wash them after they put my Flaks on this adventure on course)

Frame: Jet Black/Yellow
Lens: Black

The Flak Jackets bear a striking resemblence to their predecessors, the Half Jackets, but introduce an important difference: the lens coatings. While some have opted to test the new hydrophobic lens coatings and the enhanced ability to easily wipe away dirt/oils I am not that brave. For now, I'll have to trust those forerunners who put the lenses to the test. As far as the fit is concerned, they also maintain Oakley's patented three-point fit system. Unobtainium earsocks and nosepieces increase grip with persperation and add to the comfort. This particular color combo represents acclaimed Lance Armstrong's Livestrong Foundation. Considering a great pair of Oakleys coupled with an unprecedented seven-time Tour de Lance champion endorsement, who wouldn't want to own a pair?

Frame: Metallic Red
Lens: VR28 Black Iridium

Oakley has a reputation for evolving their already innovative eyewear designs into new and better (most of the time) ones. This is certainly true of Flak Jacket, which obviously capitalizes on the function and popularity of Half Jacket. I must admit the first pictures I saw did not impress me much, but once I had an opportunity to try these, I was hooked.

The best elements of Half Jacket are here: light weight, snug fit (but not too tight), plentiful Unobtainium for grip, half-frame styling for better downward vision, and two different nosebomb sizes. However, Flak Jacket adds Hydrophobic lenses and fresh styling that makes them even better for casual, non-sport wear. The hype about the lenses is justified... water just beads up and rolls off, and I have yet to get a noticeable smudge on them. The lens shape is more squared off than HJ, which fits the prevailing styling trend these days. The earstems are sculpted, tall, and slim, which gives Flak a trimmer, narrower look compared to HJ. A nice little detail is the tiny, molded-in icon on the inside of the earstem in the center of the grip anchor (the piece of Unobtainium near the hinge). I've noticed Oakley has incorporated these little icons in some form on most of their new releases (perhaps to better differentiate from fakes?). The metal icon on the outside of the earstem is also unique in that it is solid with the center portion (the "hole") painted to match either the frame or Unobtainium color depending the colorway.

Metallic Red is much like Cinder Red or some versions of Blood. It looks plain maroon in flat light, but really sparkles under bright sun or direct light. VR28 Black is a good choice to match the frame, as the reddish-brown tint and faint mirror complement the red frame and black Unobtainium.

Frame: Jet Black
Lens: Black Iridium and G30

The flak jacket shades rock! For the brighter days the black iridium lenses are great and cloudy days the G30 work well. I love running with them on and only wish it was brighter in London more often! Think I will be getting a different coloured frame and maybe ice lenses too :)

I can't tell you anything in this review that is not in my previous review. I am only commenting on the purpose for this edition and the color combo. I love the fact that proceeds from the sale of these is going to the LAF to help the fight against cancer. I love the color combo, but have once suggestion/complaint. I think that OAKLEY could have made the O on the vault anodized yellow to match the sunglasses and tag on the microbag.

I was surprised at how light these are while wearing. The design looks very cool and is a nice alternative to the half jackets. I felt like the fit on these was pretty snug but comfortable. They stay on a lot better during strenuous activity than the half jackets.

these look very similar to the half jacket, but the frame is nothing like it. with looks combined with a valve and half jacket and the feel of the structual integraty of juliets, these have to be the coolest and most comfortable pair of sunglasses i have ever tried on. they are also made of a harder material than half jackets.
