This is my favorite of the more commonly available frame options for O-Matter. I find that it gives the glasses a richer and less flimsy look and feel compared to most other options, especially when compared to Polished Black as well as other colors with a glossy finish. It also allows for the frames to stand out more, which is a great thing when the lenses are a color that really stands out such as Ruby.

I absolutely love this color frame. It's the only color I will buy, as it is suited for all occasions. It's simple, refined, and doesn't look cheap like the other glossy options. You feel like no matter what you're wearing or where you're going, your sunglasses will never define you or that they are being defined as a "bad option." Simplistic Awesomeness.

Matte black is a great complimentary frame. If you want to go with a loud lens like fire or ruby nothing makes the lens stand out more than a matte black frame. It also looks great with a grey lens for the discreet look.
-

Although not very "flashy" or eye-catching, Matte Black serves as an excellent overall choice for a frame color. As mentioned by others, there's no "coating" on the frame to wear off, so this frame should be capable of looking great through heavy wear. And because of its neutral hue it can be paired with literally any lens and still looks good.

One of my top colors for frames. Matte works with everything, it resists slipping off your head more than a painted or gloss frame, and there's no paint to wear off. Very utilitarian, and I love it because of that.

There's obviously nothing exciting about this color, but one thing to note is that it showcases the fine details of a frame better than Gloss Black does. If you're buying frames with lots of contours and lines, I'd definitely choose Matte over Gloss Black. It's also a bit more scratch and smudge resistant.

Love the look of the matte black.have it on my Gascan with Ice iridium lenses. problem is that it attracts oil from my hands and face. especially on the nose. but other than that, its a nice color.
-

Had these on the Gascans, but went through 4 frames of matte black...because over time i found tiny bubbles/peeling of the paint near the nosebridge and the ear temples. Look-wise they are sleek, conservative and virtually scratch resistant. Oakley should formulate better ingredients in mixing of matte black paint. =[
I hope the same doesnt go for my monster dogs...

Nice color to have for everyday use. Not too flashy but still gives you the chance to rock the O without being over the top.
-

Matte black is nothing special to look at. It is about as conservative as frame colors can get. Black frames are about all that are allowed in military uniforms because it's conservative.
-

Nice stealthy look. For when you don't want to get a lot of attention, matte black is the ideal color. Not as flashy as polished black. Like other people say about it: it's nice and conservative.
-

I like how this looks on the FatCat. It's kinda boring, and but a little stealthy with the subdued logos.
-

It's a conservative shade but since they're on my SI M Frames and I use them for outdoor activity, they're perfect. They've already taken a pretty good beating (and will continue to take more) but still look almost as good as new.
-

The most conservative frame color you can get. Especially good if your Oakleys will be abused, since black is the base resin color and scratches/scuffs won't be so obvious. Matte black is used exclusively on the SI (military) O-Matter models.

Have this on my HI Blue Wisdom's. It complements the lens very nicely and makes for a nice subdued frame color.
