Maybe I'm the only one here who thinks this - but the market changes, and Oakley does as well. If Oakley still did what they did in the early 2000s or late 90ies, they would be in trouble, latest now. And everytime there's a change of design language, people say "this is not Oakley anymore". But what is Oakley? Oakley is change. The will and courage to reinvent itself every few years. And while die-hard collectors don't like it - the success proves Oakley is right to do so. And sorry to say that, 99,5% of people would NEVER buy a Zero 0.4 or are not interested in crazy X Metal customs. We are just a crazy small group. Bridging that gap between stuff for the true believer and also for the customer who buys his first Oakley because he likes the design that is up-to-date - that's the art. And I think Oakley does pretty well so far...there's always stuff you don't like, it's like that now and has been every since. Legends like Juliet, Minute, Zero etc. are simply not born every year.

They don't fit, thickness is different and the "notches" are at different places as well...

The owners of that site most likely buy their product in Europe, and they are more expensive here in all countries, so you have to convert from €. I can't of any American lifestyle company that is cheap in Europe. Vans f.e.: In California, I paid $70 incl. tax. Here in Germany it's € 95 (about $147) for the same shoe.

Of course the price difference is huge for Oakley now, but they were about the same in $/€ when the € was introduced. They prices themselves have not changed dramatically in the past years, it's just the exchange rates.

Hi Harry,

it's not a "real" O Store, but a store called Butik 1242, and they carry mostly Oakley. It's located in a quite big and new mall, as far as I know it's in Poznan or around it. Check their site for further info:

Hey Harry, I heard there's a pretty cool store in a new mall in Poland, I think close to Poznan...ever heard of it?

That's strange, I have one of the early Chrome versions, and the lenses popped out only once...

I had some Smiths before, one of them had simply the most awful fit ever, very small lens with a 4 base...fortunately there are no photos at all of me wearing it. ;-)

The hinges were simply replaced with new ones from a later production run. The spring (or at least what you see of it on the inside) is golden now, and there's a small hole right behind the spring. It was done by the customer service in Germany, at no costs (warranty).

My first O3 also had some loose hinges. The hinges were later replaced with new ones, and it looks like Oakley changed the spring hinge mechanism on these, as the new hinges were much more precise than my first ones.

My Moscow Hat is definitely genuine Oakley. It has a red Oakley tag and a white tag with the material description on the inside.

I was shocked like anybody else was...but if we try to let our emotions as true Oakley believers aside, this was just a matter of time. It's Luxottica, okay, that's hard for most of us, because Oakley fanatics around the world battled them and their optics for decades. But it could have been VF, or PPR, LVMH or any other really big company as well. Luxottica understands the optical business, manufacturing efficiency & women's eyewear, Oakley understands performance, technology and active lifestyle. Maybe they'll benefit from each others respective strengths without Oakley losing its characteristic edge. Let's hope I'm right.

As far as I know, LCDs use polarisation to create the visual signal. I'm not an expert for this, but when two filters come together at the wrong angle, it's gonna be dark...

500 for 1 store might be a bit extreme, true. Maybe Hamburg will get it too?

I think it's right to recall all of them. It's sad because of the cool design, but I think there'll be more artist stuff soon enough.

I don't think it's holes, it looks like it has some kind of grooves in it. Cool.
