Long story coming about why I'm here, I won't be offended if you don't read the whole thing.
I just started an "official" collection because I just realized at 46, I could.
My history with Oakley goes back to about 1991/1992 when my older brother who was just shy of 10 years older worked at a bike shop. We were pretty avid cyclists and he and his EMT friend were sporting their new M-Frames. My brother's were crystal red with red iridium, white nose and ear socks. His buddy had the splatter neon yellow frames.
I begged and begged my mom to let me have a pair, I was like 12? She finally caved and I got my first pair of Oakleys, crystal clear frames with blue iridium hybrid lenses. I loved them, cleaned them every night, wore them on every ride. I was cool like my big brother. Unfortunately, they were stolen from off the top of the fridge in my house by another brother's a$$h0le friend and I never saw them again.
Fast forward to the Subzero release which happened around the same time my oldest brother was moving across the country. He landed a pair of the carbon fibers. He let me hold on to them because I was going to fly out and see him after he got settled. So, I had those Subzeros and even though I had to give them back eventually, it felt like I had my second pair of awesome sunglasses. I ended up flying to visit and gave them back as promised but during that trip we went kayaking. My brother rolled his kayak and the Subzeros were lost forever.
I also had a pair of Oakley's from then on, some found, some lost but Oakley was engrained in my DNA from then on. Not in the I sought the latest craze and I missed out on the X-Metals regrettably but fast forward to 2015 and I decided I wanted a pair of something cool, a little crazy. It was the year the Madman released. I knew my then wife (now divorced) would never let me spend $400 on sunglasses so I settled on the Tailends which I still love to this day because they marked the start of my new obsession.
I've been divorced for 5 years now and I happened to just go onto Oakley.com to see some of the LAST MUZM Subzeros 50% off and just like that I ordered 2 pair which sparked what is starting to be an actual collection. I managed to find some new Madman sunglasses that I actually rock EVERY day, now it's time to live my life and do the things that make me happy and bring back those happy memories....I just need Oakley to embrace some 90s nostalgia now and come out with some badass homages to their past.
Thanks for reading! Glad to find like minded people to share with.

I kinda like the Ellipse in Matte Carbon with Torch Trail. I think they'd look awesome in the verve spacedust. Hoping SI stocks them, bout the only way I'll buy them I think.

I kinda think it’d be cool, I’d certainly try to pick up a pair or two. But it kinda waters down the impact of the originals, I definitely remember when they came out.

Oh! PS, I managed to find a fairly pristine gen 1 blue iridium hybrid lens, I'm just on the hunt for an uncracked or undamaged crystal clear frame that is reasonable. I will rebuild my first pair!
