Hi
Since January when Luxottica, Oakleys owners, moved the distribution of Oakleys from USA to their HQ in Italy they have renumbered and renamed many products from the Oakley stable.
These are now named as Ruby iridium according to Luxottica.
Hope this helps
Colin

This is the message I got when pointing out that the Scalpels in Dark with Ruby were in fact +Red: euh contraire, they are now considered Ruby. They are 'poisoning' the colourways!

Sorry, I don't follow you. Moved distribution overseas? Or are you only referring to the Euro market? It is true that some products have been renumbered to keep IDs consistent across multiple retailers but the naming convention should still be left to what it says on Oakley's labels. Being semi employed by luxottica thought I can admit they f up colors all the time and you just need to take it with a grain of salt.

OK, since you put it like that, then heh, no great shakes: it's just the thought of all those tw*t sellers on Ebay having a veritable field day.

I suppose I should be shocked that O Matter is being made in Italy (even though a lot of people expected acetate models to be produced there anyway), but I guess it makes sense. Producing it over there to serve the European market is a lot more fiscally responsible than producing it in the States and then shipping them over. However, I would be shocked if the domestic versions are made overseas.

To go with Oak, I assume anything made in Italy is for the European market only.

Keep in mind that most ebay sellers are looking for views on their items, so Ruby is a tag on to most auctions, esp if the lens is Red. If you ever look at a Lux distro sheet though the naming is atrocious. What would you think "Shn Slvr Bl P" would describe? That's just an example of how bad they are.

I understand what you're referring to Phil, but the point I was trying to make is that unscrupulous sellers will now use this to argue their point: because not all of them state in their auctions the correct definition for the actual colour.
