Wife grabbed the Amazon points last month, so I'm a little behind. Got the Classic Guardians Omnibus since the price went down.

Great summary of the Top 10 amounts ever paid for a comic book per titile (as oppose to multiple sales of the same issue, otherwise the list would be dominated by Action Comics #1, Detective Comics #27 and a Batman #1):

Finally got around to reading the Sleeper Omnibus by Ed Brubaker. It's been recommended to me by several people over the years, but I never had a big interest in it even though Brubaker has been one of the more highly regarded writers of the last 15 years. It was the news that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck taking on the development of its movie that got my interest in it. Since they have been doing good film work recently, I wanted to see what they thought was so special about it.

I would recommend it to anyone as it has been recommended to me, but I didn't think it was overly great as other readers have opinned. If you are a fan of The Departed and Infernal Affairs movies, you will probably like the story; it's basically the same concept. Had trouble with the artwork since it's not really my thing, however.

Word is they are turning Killing Joke into an animated movie with Mark Hammel reprising his role as the Joker.

Yep, and Kevin Conroy as Batman as well. Good stuff:

There was news last year the team was given the thumbs up for it to be R-rated, but it should be interesting to see what they end up with.

Latest two Omnibus pickups. Opted for the Amazon sellers which saved me a bit of money. Seemed to work out well this time.

Thanks. Onslaught was about the point I fell out of comics for a while. So at this point, I can either stop caring about future editions, or use this to figure out what happened after. I sort of want to see how the Bone Claw version of Wolverine got back to the status quo.

I've been out of comics for a while myself Dann, but I was a big Wolverine fan at that time. I'm interested myself as too how that happened!

Brings back memories reading that article. I loved the first two Marvel Universe and the Jim Lee X-men sets (still have X-men collectors series with the full collection and holograms). The third series as well, though to a lesser extent. Joe Jusko's "Marvel Masterpiece" set truly was indeed a masterpiece. The chase cards were all awesome in all those series,

There was also a lenticular set in the mid to late nineties that I really liked called Marvel Motion. I didn't buy too many of them because it was somethin like $5 a pack and only gave 2 or 3 cards. Great stuff, though.

In the process of moving everything over to fresh 9 panel holders. I have most of the sets, but things did get expensive after a while. $5 foe flair packs with 5 cards vs a dollar or two for 10 when they started. I don't think they understood the buying power of 13 year olds.

All this nostalgia is almost providing motivation to re-buy all these sets. I think my parents threw out the ones I didn't take with me.

I don't think I could ever put down $500k for an original splash page from The Dark Knight Returns (Probably significantly higher than that the next time one comes up for auction), and probably wouldn't have any interest in paying $5-10k for a hand painted colour guide by the original colourist. The printing plates are as rare as either and would also fetch a fortune on the open market (wouldn't be surprised if one was over $15k), so printing production art is the 4th best thing. Here's one from when World Color Press was printing from their Sparta plant that I managed to pick up this weekend:

The complete card sets are cheaper now than when they were new. I remember in 1993, the 1990 set seemed ancient and unattainable. Once place still had packs for sale, and those were going for $4.50. Now the whole collection is about $35 on ebay. Good time to be a buyer.
