that is cool bro. what kind of brush(es) do you use? I really like that look. I think a hint of yellow would look sick in the icons or something small...
I use Iwata brushes with a 0.3 needle for detail and a 0.5 for larger areas. I also us various erasers and scalpels for removing paint for highlights etc.
Iwata are good brushes but a little over priced, I used DeVilbis before those but I've never used Badger. I'd consider a custom micron but I'm not sure if there'a any real siginificant improvement in performance to warrant that sort of price. But considering that it costs only a little bit more than my X Metals maybe the price isn't so bad lol
Agreed, I love the biomech touches underneath! The images and portraits are awesome too! When I get a motorcycle (the wife finally said yes!), I may just be in touch for some custom paint on the helmet...
I get mine on ebay, but there is a local dealer in Anaheim (near Disneyland) that is cheaper than just about anyone else for Iwata and pretty much any brand that is good for that matter. Check them out www.coastairbrush.com. I went from a Badger Anthem 155-7 which was a great brush to an Iwata High Performance HP-C and it was a drstic difference in feel, control, and atomization. Much more consistant.
Now I bought an HP-B, HP-C, Eclipse HP-BCS (bottom feed), and lastly my most recent buy, a Hi-Line HP-CH. I really like the HP-CH since you have the MAC valve and can adjust air on the fly and it has the preset handle. The only piece I bought that really was overkill was the Iwata Smart Jet compressor. Only gives 45psi max, and the waterbased stuff needs that at a minimum unless thinned way down. I think for the money, a compressor like a Porter Cable or similar small tank type would be money better spent. Let me know if you ever need help getting Iwata stuff cheaper. I would be glad to pick it up here is Coast won't ship...
Thanks for the offer I will keep that in mind if I'm in the market for a custom micron. I have a couple of large compressors which have a tank and a larger cfm as I also use spray guns for larger work. The only downside is that they can be quite loud when they kick in.
