I just received my second pair of original Frogskins (generation 2), a Rootbeer/Bronze Iridium pair. My first pair (Crystal clear/+Red) has the logo written in the classic logo, with a capital F - 'Frogskins' but the Rootbeer pair has a slightly different logo - 'frogskins' all in lower case and a different font. On the Crystal clear pair, the logo is about half a centimetre from the temple hinge and on the Rootbeer frame the logo is about a centimetre and a half from the hinge. Has anyone else noticed this? Is this enough to count as a variation? Any idea which one came first? Everything else is exactly the same, hinges, raised font, the same 'Made in USA' lettering.

My Generation 2 original Frogskins have the capital F. Is there any chance the frame is not authentic?

My 6 original Frogskin frames all have the capital F on them...Not a good sign.

Most of my originals are Gen 1, and they have the lowercase 'f'. I guess they kept this for a short while until moving to the Capital on Gen 2.

Cheers Dann. They're definitley real, guess they must be one of the earlier generation 2 Frogskins.

Just got my third pair of Frogskins (Crystal Clear/Violet Iridium) and they have the same lower case 'frogskin' as my Rootbeer pair. Decided to take some pics so you guys can see what I'm going on about:

Also, on the Cyrstal Black and Rootbeer frames with lowercase f, there is a star just underneath the temple hinge. Wonder why that's there?

Have an original Gen 2 Crystal Black/Violet on my desk right now and it has a cap F.

from what i heard, the star is to indicate authenticity back in the early days to counter counterfeiting. if it had the star, it means that the they are authentic
