I have no idea where I'd put that, but how could I pass it up? - Dann

My thoughts exactly!

I would love if they would eventually do a 6-player cabinet. It would necessarily be the size of two machines in one, but what a centrepiece that machine would be for 3/4 arcade cabinet collectors.

A new TMNT beat-em-up is coming out soon! Absolutely loved the ‘80/90s arcade ones when I was younger. I don’t know what platforms it’ll be on, but looking forward to it:

So we’ve seen New Wave Toys’ 1:6 scale arcade machines, which is scaled to go along with your Hot Toys (or equivalent) collectibles. We’ve seen Arcade 1Up’s 3:4 scale machines for those wanting a home arcade room but don’t have the space for a full scale one. Now we have Numskull with their 1:4 machines:

As a side note, it’s pretty cool there is (was) an LE Pac-Man machine signed by the original creator.

Like any other collectible out there, prices for old boxed games are exploding (even moreso for sealed + graded games). I've been working on expanding the retro gaming collection over the past 11 months. Trying to find a really nice condition complete-in-box Super Metroid for SNES is getting tougher to find at a reasonable price. Should've started earlier.

All Metroid games went up after Dread was announced, atleast the good ones did

Yep. It went up naturally over the last couple years but exploded after Dread was announced at E3. Not surprising. Dread looks awesome and I'm glad it's a platformer. Too bad the Special Edition version sold out within minutes of going on pre-order. Hopefully more stock will go up before release.

Ok, I get that the top holy grails of any given hobby is sealed-in-box items of the highest grade that can possibly exist, but $1.5M for Super Mario 64 and $360k for Super Mario World? Yikes:

It’s possible that since it was one of the few games available when the N64 came out, there’s fewer BNIB Super Mario 64’s out there than of other games. I remember that Christmas it was Mario, some hockey game and I believe goldeneye.

I’m still trying to buy a used Initial D arcade two player setup. It’s huge, but man is it a great game!

A two player Initial D machine would be awesome. Take pics if you ever get one. What a crazy game room that would be!

The special thing about that $1.5M Super Mario 64 is it's about as mint as it gets. Not only is the box mint but the seal around it is original and mint as well. The buyer is betting there won't be many of that caliber in the future. Since the seal is mint as well, that's practically limited to those pulled off the manufacturing line and weren't in circulation/shipped to stores. We'll see.

Hot damn! Arcade1up is putting out the classic 4-player X-men cabinet:

https://arcade1up.com/products/x-men-4-player-arcade-cabinet
https://bleedingcool.com/games/arcade1up-introduces-multiple-new-arcade-cabinets-at-ces-2021/

The Arcade1up X-men cabinet is now up for pre-order. $699 and comes with a stool:

https://arcade1up.com/collections/cabinets/products/x-men-4-player-arcade-cabinet

Have to think deeply on whether to get this one. I love the idea of the cabinet, but having already owned a cabinet from them, the novelty has run out. Plus I have the game on the PS3 when I bought from the PS store 8 years back before they removed it (and still play it to this day). Still, it is a fantastic bit of nostalgia.

That is awesome! I don't have a cabinet yet, so this one is still very tempting!

What makes it more tempting is I see Target now has theirs for sale for $599 and says it comes with the stool too (in the "Highlights" writeup):

https://www.target.com/p/arcade1up-marvel-x-men-home-arcade-with-riser/-/A-82686745

I suspect the inclusion of the stool is a copy/paste error, but we'll see. If it does indeed include the stool, that's a $175 savings from buying directly from Arcade1up (which also charges $75 shipping within the states).

I know what you mean, I bought the nba jam cabinet thinking I would use it a lot. I haven’t turned it on at all this year. When the second TMNT cabinet was announced I considered it,

I think the novelty is huge on these. Well, that's pretty much obvious. I think for me I'd want one thinking I'd play it often but after hearing from other people and knowing how a lot of things usually go with this kinda stuff for me - I'd probably stop playing it after a while when the novelty wears off. I don't think I'd stop completely but I know my playing time on it would fall off quite a bit. BUT... I think I'd still be into the cool factor of just having it in my game room (if I had one). Play it or not, it being there like a display piece would still be kinda awesome.

Two great video games from the 80's.

Just a small side note.
At our local video game room, we had the National High Score Record Holder on
Robotron: 2084 for a period of time. Pretty cool at the time.
