I feel like you can build a much more powerful machine from just a few parts on newegg. The alien chassis looks cool, but I can sacrifice that for price. Build a box in 2008 and it's still pushing strong. After upgrading the video card, that's kept it alive. However the next upgrade will be needed for other reasons such as SSD, USB 3 support, and a motherboard that will expand past 8Gb
Yeah, amortized across more years, building your own rig is definitely the way to go for power and value-for-your-money. Plus, it tends to be a lot more upgradable than consoles.
Next rig will be geared for video editing, which basically means you get a great gaming machine while you're at it, since display, RAM, and Adobe's integration into GeForce cards all play a dual role. Probably be a year+ before I bother, since there's no sense investing at a time you can't sink some time into it. Better to let the tech mature since prices pretty much haven't changed in the almost 30 years I've seen personal computers develop.
They're having a Texas Comic Con in San Antonio in August and I was thinking about going. I would really love to see all the STAR WARS related toys and products. I love me some SW!!!
