My friend has had these MDs for 11 months and in the last month or so they have started peeling as pictured. Has anyone seen this before or know a way to stop it? I'm assuming warranty would cover this right?
Thanks.

It does happen. Warranty will replace that frame. At least, that's been my experience. My Whiskey did the same thing.

Thanks for the comfirmation.

Now I just have to try and get them to replace it in the three weeks I'm home from Qatar.

They aren't exactly known for their lightning fast turnaround time, but you may get lucky. I took mine into the folks at Tokyo HQ and walked out 5 minutes later with a new pair. But, that's Japan.

How'd a matte frame start peel like that though? I can see Whiskey and Brown Fade peeling from the top down. That's def odd.

I have a friend that had that happen to his pearl whites, twice. As odd as it seems I think sometimes it has to do with a persons body chemistry (skin oils, sweat). I've had stealth and cinder red for a while now and wear them constantly and it hasn't happened.

No doubt that some people have more acidic sweat then others. That may contribute to the peeling issue.

Thanks for the all input. I've also thought it could be a personal body chemistry issue and told him so. I'm trying to move him to a frame with some unobtainium to solve the issue.

Tell him to lay off the makeup. Shiny noses are in!

or, he/she can get a bottle of nail lacquer and put a coat on the areas where affected on the next pair or some clear acrylic enamel is probably better. Should also help as a buffer to prevent that. If anything peels, it will be the barrier coat, and you can always re-apply...

I was going to ask if you mean coat the nose or the glasses but now I think about it, your meaning become obvious!
